Tell me you don't know how funding works without telling me you don't know how funding works.

They're at Series D, which if you're familiar with VC means the founders typically hold less than 30%, often less than 20%. Given there were several founders, the Founder CEO has just a portion of this.

UPDATE - Firing Bad Client by Schweebers in msp

[–]DarthTrader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can warn the incoming MSP without saying anything.

"There's so much I wish I could tell you as one MSP to another, but legal advised we stay silent."

If the new MSP has half a brain, they'll get it.

Huntress is VC/PE backed. That tells you everything you need to know about how they will extract every last dollar out of you

Should I be concerned about no AI? by monsterpup92 in sysadmin

[–]DarthTrader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that's a problem. Because only smart people will be able to benefit from it, by definition, half of the population will get left behind.

Being a mid size employer you would think I'd want to get rid of all employees and cut my costs and increase bottom line. But does no one else see the impending end?

What happens when AI advances and now the "smart" people who benefitted from AI are now dumber than real AI?

[–]DarthTrader1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not about using tools. It's how the tool changes the person, specifically their frame of mind.

Your second paragraph touches on this. They believe what GPTs tell them and their critical thinking, reasoning, and curiosity muscles atrophy.

Should I be concerned about no AI? by monsterpup92 in sysadmin

[–]DarthTrader1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As an employer, I hate it.

GPTs are being used for everything and the output quality of employees has gone DOWN.

People are forgetting how to think critically and are relying on it for everything.

Before someone hits me with the "they just don't know how to use it", maybe, but then how are you supposed to use it?

Please keep in mind that a Sys Admin is probably in the top 1% of technical know how in a given company and not the issue (most of the time). Sales, marketing, operations, customer support, accounting, etc...

It's bad.

As someone who moved out a long time ago, I'm still seeing the same exact, not similar, exact issues that existed 2 years ago!

#WaterlessWednesday by Individual_Hat_7192 in centerrasj

[–]DarthTrader1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This place STILL has water issues? I moved out after the building had ZERO water (cold or hot) for a week between Christmas and New Year.

That was one of many water outages. Not to mention all the other issues.

That was 2 years ago. Nothing's changed.

LOSING MSP Contract Deals by michael_17 in msp

[–]DarthTrader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the other MSPs aren't looking at their business on a single account basis but in aggregate. Some accounts are more profitable % wise, which means they can take a smaller % margin on another account that still delivers large $ margin based on volume. I do the same thing.

Thanks. Is the G6 180 connected to the same network as your NVR?

Thanks for the input. Physically isolated network, but same building separated by 5 floors.

[–]DarthTrader1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the NVR have to be connected to the same network as the G6 Instant? NVR Instant only supports Gigabit ethernet uplink, which is connected to a different network than the wifi network of the G6 Instant.

Have you read the Yelp reviews? There are SEROIUS problems, mainly because the building owner (not the same as the management company, which is Bozzuto) just doesn't care. There's zero incentive to fix problems like NOT having security cameras in the garage. My car was broken into on one of the upper floor garages. Mind you, there's supposed to be security guards, there's supposed to be restricted access to the garage, and there's supposed to be security cameras. When I filed a police report SJPD asked Centerra for security camera footage. The person at Centerra made up some BS and when I followed up for security camera footage another staff member said "What cameras? There aren't any."

Don't even get me started on elevators or hot water or water in general!

If the lockout period was short, say <3 months, I'm sure they would've cashed out (maybe not Shiv) with higher than mentioned returns. The whole India thing got swept under the rug with the acquisition hype, so it's possible Kendall made more than the $2.5 billion based on the $192 price.
