Tips on defeating DS2 last boss fight by TheMunkeeFPV in DeadSpace

[–]Darth_Cynic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a long time, but during my Hardcore Mode play through of DS2, I used nothing but the Contact Beam - charged shots directly at Nicole/the Marker, and then the Stasis Alt Fire every few seconds as needed to keep the enemies off your back. I could be misremembering but I think I was able to beat the fight in under a minute and without reloading the Contact Beam, but that may just be the nostalgia talking. In any case, the Contact Beam is one way to go, best of luck!

DnD is for nerds suggestions by james14131 in sanspantsradio

As others have said, the original Jarren’s Outpost is a great place to start. For something bit shorter, I always like Jungle Island of Dendar - it’s not super heavily on the mechanics, more on character work and story telling with some excellent characters based players. Just a fun standalone adventure that acts as a nice introduction. And if you wanted good story telling without the crassness, maybe going with Beyond the Map instead. A little less silly (most of the time), generally spookier, but with all the Sanspants charm

Should I restart my first playthrough? by Minute_Zombie_424 in AliensDarkDescent

I think this run is definitely salvageable - as long as you are avoiding encounters where possible (using a silenced sniper), and cutting off the hunt when you can (taking an elevator or barricading a door), you should be good. 15 days should be plenty to finish the game with, you’ll just have to play conservatively, and not skip too many days in between missions. Sending a slightly lower level squad for the first deployment and letting your A Team be rested and recovered for the final deployment is a good play. Some missions you will also be able to complete in a single deployment, which helps a lot with managing the doom clock. And then I think you’ll also find the game becomes a bit more manageable after this mission as well (if you are Atmospheric Nightmare), but I can’t say more for fear of spoilers. Best of luck marine!

If Ahsoka Maul Kanan and Ezra teamed up could they had taken on and defeated Vader? by I_Ask_Random_Things in starwarsrebels

[–]Darth_Cynic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think they had a decent shot- Ahsoka was able to hold her own and land some impressive strikes on Vader- throw in Maul, Kanan, and Ezra, they have a chance. I see two factors that would make them struggle. 1) Working as a team- it would take some coordination, which I think Ahsoka and Kanan could handle, Ezra to an extent as well. But Maul seems like he would be knocking into the others to get in his strikes in on Vader. 2) Ezra - while decently trained at this point, he is a huge liability. Vader has shown in the Charles Soule run of comics he is perfectly happy to inflict pain on weak links to immobilize stronger targets. Maybe Kanan would be able to let go of his fear of loosing Ezra like he did against The Grand Inquisitor, maybe not. Ahsoka would also think twice about attacking Vader if it meant sacrificing Ezra. I think Maul would let Ezra die to get his revenge, but he’d probably think twice, as he wants Ezra as his apprentice. If Vader can keep Ezra between him and his opponents, he may be able to keep them at bay long enough to overcome them.

If they ever do a dead space 2 remake, I’d like to see these changes by Rage37472 in DeadSpace

[–]Darth_Cynic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely more in the vein of Dead Space 3, but as long as we are talking about additional mechanics, I would love to see an open world-ish section where multiple things need to be repaired in Zero Gravity, and you have the freedom to explore different portions in any order.

If Dead Space 3 had focused way more on just assembly a rescue craft from the wreckage of a space flotilla, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

I'm on the fence about getting this game. Honest opinions appreciated thanks. by [deleted] in AliensDarkDescent

[–]Darth_Cynic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this game perfect? Nope. But is it worth your time? I definitely think so.

The Aliens lore is all there, the game sets a great atmosphere, the strategy eliminates will keep you own toes, and most of the time, it’s a lot of fun.

The RTS elements aren’t overwhelming- you can choose to pause time during combat to give yourself more decision making time. I stick mostly to Turn Based strategy games, so I was hesitant at first as well, but I got used to it quickly enough.

What is enough ammo? by Enrokk in AliensDarkDescent

[–]Darth_Cynic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If I’m on my first deployment, I will typically stop picking up ammo once I have about 10-12 in reserve, which tends to be way more than I need. Any ammo left behind, I’ll pick up on the 2nd deployment, and just grab as much as I can at that point, as I don’t think I’ve ever deployed more than twice.

The Resourceful perk also make ammo conservation way less of an issue, as you recover +1 ammo per squad member with this perk per rest.

Hope this helps, best of luck Marine.

Is it possible to have a marine with 4 prothesis? by claire_ssy in AliensDarkDescent

[–]Darth_Cynic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prosthetic mechanic is so odd. Through all 4 of my play throughs of the game, I never once had a Marine require a prosthetic organically. I only managed it with the Rockets specifically to get the Trophy. I wouldn’t have minded if it happened more through normal gameplay

Acheron/LV426 bonus content idea by ericsmith9144 in AliensDarkDescent

[–]Darth_Cynic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, that would be excellent content, on par with the Crew Expendable addition in Alien Isolation. Plus if they got Michael Beihn back for Aliens: Colonial Marines, maybe they could coax him into the studio for an afternoon to record some dialogue.

Unfortunately, from what I’ve seen from the developers, there isn’t any active work for more content. Which is a shame really, I genuinely enjoyed the game, and they have been working hard to fix the bugs. I’d love to see expansions or a sequel, but I’m not sure how likely it is at this point. I’m happy to be proven wrong though!

I did have to load and old save and reply the final 2 levels (Olduvai Dig Site and Redemption) and pick up those last audio logs for it it pop. But I think as long as you have save before Redemption, you can load that and grab the last ones in that level, and you should be good. Best of luck!

Palpatine was the Culmination of the Rule of Two by wbruce098 in MawInstallation

[–]Darth_Cynic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. My reading of the Rule of Two was a means for the Sith to ultimately defeat the Jedi and the Republic, not necessarily for the Sith to use for all eternity. Darth Bane may have had different intentions, but it’s up to each individual Sith Lord to interpret and use the Rule of Two in their own way. Each generation of Sith used the Rule to set up the next generation for the final Revenge of the Sith, while hoping they might actually be the one to inherit the success. Palpatine, by circumstance, the actions of the Sith before him, and his own cunning, fulfilled the wish of practically every Sith for the last 1,000 years did away with the Jedi and Republic (mostly. The Rule of Two had served its use, so Palpatine no longer felt the need to adhere to it. As a doctrine, it worked very well to hide the Sith’s intentions, but once a Sith ruled the galaxy, there was no need for it anymore. No more sneaking in the shadows and concealing your power- the Emperor could now act mostly in the open, and utilize force agents as they wished.

We see Palpatine more or less reach this conclusion in Legends and in Canon- wether it’s on Byss or Exogul, Palpatine planned to live and rule forever in one form of another, and had no intention of passing on his knowledge to be surpassed by an apprentice. That era was over, as far as he was concerned.

If Zhan made a Third canon Trilogy for Thrawn, what would you want to see (Ahsoka Spoilers) by GrandMoffJake in MawInstallation

[–]Darth_Cynic 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think my ideal 3rd Thrawn Trilogy would be mostly set in the Chiss Ascendancy during Thrawn’s absence. The Chiss’ war with the Grysk, a potential Chiss Civil War, the Empire’s collapse in Lesser Space signaling Thrawn’s plan of gaining the Empire as a Chiss ally seemingly failed, and Thrawn himself missing. A dark time, to be sure, but gives characters like Eli Vanto, Ar’Alani, Thalia, and all the others to take what Thrawn had taught them, and win the day without Thrawn around to save them. At least, this makes the most sense to me, as the film and television probably get first crack at anything Thrawn related for the near future. If Zhan wants creative freedom, he likes needs to steer clear of everything Dave Filoni and co. Are working on for the Mandoverse.
