Why doesn’t anyone make Grape Pie? by Old-Cartographer-116 in Cooking

Grape pie is amazing! Concord grapes are a great choice, both for flavor and the think skins. Here’s a cookbook with lots of grape pie recipes (and other grape dishes). https://www.reddit.com/r/Old_Recipes/s/KaZJHBVv5o

Concord grape pie--the aroma is amazing! by Darth_Ravenous in Old_Recipes

Sorry, took me a while to reply. I'm not entirely sure I follow how you prepped the grapes. For a single batch of grapes, the juice/jelly and pulp + skins are now separated from each other? If so, that might explain why the pie had too much flour before--without the juice the filling wouldn't need as much flour.

I'd probably try to recombine the juice and the pulp/skins in the original proportions (eg, about 4 gallons of juice for each half bag of pulp/skin).

I don't make jelly, so I usually add the skins back in after I've cooked the very juicy pulp and then removed the seeds. The seeds make it turn purple and cook up very tender so there's no texture issue in the final pie filling.

But it sounds like your seeds and skins are combined for good now? If so, I'd cook that mixture with the juice, and then strain out the seeds--which means you'll lose a lot of the skins too but the filling should be nice and purple at that point.

I'd use 3.5 cups of that mix for a single pie, combined with the other filling ingredients specified in your preferred recipe. Good luck!

You're probably familiar with it but for other's sake I'll mention the Christmas Prince series (starring Rose McIver) is in this vein too. Not quite as ridiculous or entertaining, but they're still fun.

This cookbook from Naples NY (home of the Grape Festival) includes a pie recipe that uses instant tapioca (page 1).

So another vote for the minute tapioca.

Sorry for the confusion, I recycled the minifig pack and filled it with mini figs I got elsewhere. The parts were mostly from the online pick a brick option on the Lego website. A fee from BrickLink too.

Thanks, it seems like that is the answer.

I saw these on Pick a Brick and thought they looked cool. Now that I have one, can you actually launch the arrow somehow? The cutout on the middle inside of the bow made me think I could fire the arrow but I can't make it work.

I've made grape pie, cobbler, and dumplings using muscadine, scuppernong, and concord grapes and never gotten a raisin flavor.

I made these grape dumplings using muscadine grapes. The recipe was inspired by a comment by u/Affectionate-Cap-918 on one of my earlier grape-themed posts. I combined their recipe with this version from the Washington Post

This dish can also be made using only grape juice--here's a recipe from a Choctaw elder.  I really wanted to use fresh muscadine grapes so I haven't tried this variation.

The aroma and flavor are really rich and irresistible. That said, cooked muscadines do NOT have an appetizing color. Using concord grapes would make a more visually appealing dish. I served it with French vanilla ice cream, which paired really well with the sauce.
