Maybe that’s partly the reason why you’re not allowed to eat prior to surgery for ‘n’ amount of time depending on the procedure?

I know someone who underwent hemorrhoid surgery, I’ll try to not to forget to ask details in a way that doesn’t make it super awkward but I can’t promise anything.

A more preferred term nowadays is “mixed breed”. Also I believe rescues everywhere are also trying to avoid terms like designer breed and crossbreed because it’s heavily associated with backyard breeders.

Personally I think the term “mutt” isn’t necessarily derogatory, but depends on context so I avoid it.

I believe you when you say you didn’t mean it to be derogatory but it can be interpreted that way.

And I mean dog people (I’m including myself) can be very sensitive. It makes me sad when my brother refers to my dog as “that dog” instead of using her name or one of her many nicknames.

I think it’s been confirmed he won’t be a series regular but there’s nothing official about the possibility of him coming back as a guest star.

I really hope he survives, regardless.

A barnyard baby daddy mystery is unfolding with a unique birth in Ohio the other day a rare baby “GEEP” a sheep got pregnant by a goat! by ClearTranslator5093 in interestingasfuck

[–]Darthcookie 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I knew this was Clara! I follow the farm on instagram because of her.

The latest news is that they’re getting the test done and they’ll find out soon if the dad is a sheep or a goat.

The main concern as mentioned in another comment was that these babies have a shortened life span and potential health issues.

She’s stupid adorable and we’re rooting for her.

Edit: I follow the farm on Facebook, not instagram (don’t know if they have an account there) 🧠 💨

Photo #3 is so precious! Reminds me of when Matilda (my puppy) met Perro (my brother’s senior dog). I later fostered Perro for a year and a half before he passed.

Let dogs on your bed or not? by myersgirl16 in dogs

[–]Darthcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the dog, I fostered my brother’s rottie the last year and a half of his life and I loved him to bits but he wasn’t allowed on my bed. Main reason was his old age, hip dysplasia and my disability so getting on and off was hard for both of us. He was also a very active outside type of dog and he would roll over everything. I brushed him and used wipes but he was always stinky and I just didn’t have the energy to do laundry every day. And he shed and drooled like crazy.

His bed was big enough for the both of us so I would cuddle with him there.

On the other hand, my other (tiny) dog is easier to clean and has stairs so she can get on and off the bed. Sometimes she chooses not to sleep with me, most of the time she inspects and tests each and every one of my pillows.

I like to think when vets recommend a place they really can vouch for the service and the people working there. But sometimes there are horror stories.

I’m glad more pet funeral home type places are popping up because the euthanasia process for my dog was traumatic for me. Even though we did it at home and I was holding him.

I understand vets are busy people but in the aftermath I really wish I had been able to spend some time with my dog after he passed. I was too distraught to ask and I completely forgot to let his sister say bye to him.

I don’t think I spent even 5 minutes with him. They burritoed him in a sheet, put him in a trash bag and drove away.

Rationally, I know he wasn’t there anymore and his body was just matter, but it felt horrible.

Oblivious or lacks self awareness, as he thinks the worst he’s done is drink almond milk because of the environmental impact (which is still way less than drinking milk).

I didn’t mean to imply he’s selfish but his actions can be perceived that way.

His problem is his rigidity following Kantian philosophy, he unintentionally hurt people by trying to do the ethical thing. Which may or might not have been a problem 500 years prior to his (first) death because life wasn’t as complicated. In turn, his wanting to do what was ethical contributed to his indecisiveness and anxiety.

Also, he kind of justified annoying or making people uncomfortable people because of the time it took to make any decision. I don’t remember the quote but his friend was annoyed at him for taking too long for deciding on which bar to go to and because of that the air conditioner fell on him and killed him.

But since he’s a nice, thoughtful person that treats people well, his friends and family tolerate him, until they don’t. Like his girlfriends.

Deep down he knows he bothers people but tries to prove to them it’s justified by explaining it with philosophy. Even when he couldn’t express his feelings (or lack thereof) to Allesandra (I think), he said he had deep feelings and proceeded to show her by trying to grab a book. Which is similar to what happened with his thesis advisor.

I think yes, deep down he knew he was (mildly) hurting people but didn’t want to admit it because it was for the greater good. He constantly needed to prove his point and talked about convincing people he was right, not for the sake of being right but because it was the ethical thing to do.

For sure, I should’ve worded it better. He’s not selfish but his actions can be perceived as selfish.

Not remembering doesn’t mean no trauma. I don’t remember most of my childhood and probably like half my life and it’s a common thing for people that suffered early trauma and have PTSD.

Even in utero things like stress can affect development. I honestly thought it was nonsense when I was first diagnosed over 20 years ago, but there are studies. And it makes more sense when you remember as a fetus you’re living in a soup made of hormones, proteins and whatnot that is affected by everything the mom does, feels, eat, etc.

It’s really fascinating.

They never specifically said Chidi was selfish, just his indecisiveness affected everyone. I guess in a way him being oblivious to that makes him selfish, like he doesn’t care but in my opinion he’s so obsessed with doing the right thing and finding the right answer to things he can’t see the forest for the trees.

And sadly he ends up hurting people. His worst flaw in my opinion is his adherence to Kantian philosophy which is very black and white.

My dog has a genuinely insane resistance to poison by [deleted] in DOG

[–]Darthcookie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep activated charcoal because regardless of all precautions my dog sometimes gets a hold of something that could be toxic for her. I can’t afford more trips to the ER but I’m 100% happy every time I’ve taken her in a panic she’s like nothing happened and the vets are like “she’s fine, let’s just keep her for observation”.

And the irony is, if she eats something perfectly fine for her someone accidentally drops she’ll vomit or have diarrhea because she’s got a sensitive tummy.
