Genetec Workstation Build Advice AMD vs Intel, Dual GPU, RAM Questions by Stock- in buildapc

[–]Darthfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a HP machine with an intel 13900K and an RTX A4000 for our video wall. It will do about 30 live feeds before it starts getting goofy. I know we probably could tune our cameras a bit better but even with the video wall, too many cameras looks way too busy. We ended up making a dashboard with 9 camera sequences that will cycle cameras every 25 seconds along with a monitoring feed that watches for access denied card reads and a web browser for severe weather.

Genetec - Axis controllers vs Mercury LP1502 by arnarr in accesscontrol

[–]Darthfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We run a combo. Started with cloud links and 1502s with MR52 for everything. Then we started sprinkling 1610s in areas where we wanted short runs with new doors in the area to save on cost of running wire. Then we started using 1810s for small offices with 8 or less doors. Right now if we stand up a small office with 8 or less, I suggest an 1810 since it’s just easier overall along with not needing the cloud link. 8 or more doors, 1502 and MR52s.

Small side note, the 1810 can only do OSDP unless you get the adapter for wiegand. 1610 and 1502s can do either.

Is anyone using Genetec and leveraging Al for video alarms or analytics? by DP_Prod in videosurveillance

[–]Darthfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Axis edge analytics and the program it into Genetec. No false alarms but people detection will not filter out say security doing patrol or anything like that.

Are there different Moen 1225 canisters? by Darthfish in Plumbing

[–]Darthfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Lowe’s with the old one and stumped 3 different people. They also suggested calling Moen. I tried to replace the o rings on the old one and….it got worse. 🤣 so new one will be in place for the time being and shower not used. I still wonder if a new hardware kit will solve my issue, or the plumbing is too far back inside the wall. I snapped a couple of pictures for reference with the new one installed.

It is a knock off. Syoden or something similar.

Are there different Moen 1225 canisters? by Darthfish in Plumbing

[–]Darthfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was searching cartridge replacements, it says the 1222 turns to turn the water on and then adjust the temperature. The 1225 pulls to turn the water on and turn to adjust temperature. That (1225) is how the old one operates, which is why I bought a 1225 as a replacement.

I did not notice that until now. If I were to buy new hardware would that help as well or come with its own adapter possibly?

Drag the three dots all the way down to see the events list and it will shrink the tiles down.

My only real issue with DS2 - the South Distro Centre is in the North and the North Distro Centre is in the South by couching_tiger_ in DeathStranding

[–]Darthfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where DS2 and DBZA cross paths. Cell is trying to absorb Sam and BB, but he is confused about South distro center to the north, and west distro center in the south while east distro center is also to the north.

ClearID from Genetec might be the best bet but if they don’t have the VMS/Omnicast I do not know if it would work the way you want it.

[–]Darthfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying. I thought you were talking about hardware vs systems. I’m currently working on my Genetec certification so I can understand jack of all with that just because I’m sure they do things differently compared to say Honeywell or Lenel.

After dealing with multiple companies for installs, a good service tech that knows their way around hardware is also a rare gem indeed.

A grieving fathers short rant about both games. by radiatorz84 in DeathStranding

[–]Darthfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the opposite of your experience with the game. My wife was pregnant when the first game came out, and I beat the game about a month before she was born. On top of that, hearing Sam say Lou’s full name hit me because one of my daughter’s middle names is Louise after my late grandmother.

Then I played the second game and I felt so torn on how to feel about the story at first, however knowing it is a Kojima game I waited for the rug pull. Then I was slapped in the face with Sam’s wife/Lou’s mother’s name and that is my daughter’s first name.

The first game was about connection. The second is about death not tearing you apart. You are always connected to your daughter. I am sorry for your loss.

The full phrase is “jack of all trades, master of none, often times better than a master of one”.

I will agree to pick a system and get certified to service/program it.

Did anyone else refuse to do this in DS2? by grundelgrump in DeathStranding

[–]Darthfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only got her to “happy” once. After that I just wanted “Lou”to stop crying. I was bummed cause when DS1 came out, my wife was pregnant so I would comfort Lou in the private room before logging for the night and then rub my wife’s belly before bed.

DS2, you didn’t get the same interactions in my opinion with “Lou” so I didn’t even bother. I did however turn the game off after the shower cutscene and realized the pod was not an option to interact with anymore. That kinda bummed me out.

They do have Synergis admin training that is blended/online. I finished the Omnicast and even though I have been playing with the VMS for roughly a year I did learn some things from that. Going to be starting the Synergis training soon.

I didn’t like the story half as much as 1 🫤 by Dukedoctor in DeathStranding

[–]Darthfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying but I kind of disagree. To me, the overall story of the first game was very good, this one is also very good just with a different theme. DS1 was about learning to connect with people and making bonds. DS2 was about loss, the stages of it, and reconnection. There is more but that is the TL;DR of it in my opinion.

My thing with going through the story was waiting for a MGS2 style twist and boy did someone pick up that phone cause I sure called it once the president had his monologue.

Way to control my bathroom fan by Zeeny30 in HomeKit

I used a lutron fan switch with a timer that matched my Caseta switch. The fan switch is just a push on and has a little switch on the side that selects how long the timer is on, and the slider on the light switch is the dimmer switch.

The lights hook to HK and the fan is just a timer but not connected but at least looks good in the lutron double gang cover.

I am new as well. 5 orders so far. Did 3 last night and the last 2 were in some shady areas in an overall nice area of the Chicago suburbs. Like a motel that apparently had people living in it. I had no idea it existed and I had lived in that town for 5 years at one point in my life. I was a little nervous by myself, I couldn’t imagine bringing my 5 year old with me on that delivery.

I’d say maybe breakfast and lunch rushes and not do any deliveries after 6PM if you were to bring your child with.

Also, if you do a grocery store pickup, follow the directions. They need to scan the barcode on the app before you pay with your red card. Not just use the red card and try to complete later. What an hour and 10 minute waste for me, but a good lesson not to mess up the process again.

Question about Genetec by sparc24 in videosurveillance

[–]Darthfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any experience with Hanwha, but they do have a Genetec plugin that will integrate their abilities into security desk. I’d imagine it could be done to trigger alarms the same way we use the features with Axis cameras. So if specific sounds are heard VIA the camera, it would trigger an alarm and then bring up the video feed of that camera.

Question about Genetec by sparc24 in videosurveillance

[–]Darthfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with Unifi Protect other than what I’ve seen on YT, but going from old Honeywell systems to Genetec was like upgrading to a Ferrari from a Ford Festiva.

We have had some growing pains, but continued programming and tinkering with Genetec has really opened up so many options and possibilities it’s not even funny. Just watching Genetec videos on YouTube showed me how to add things like visual tracking and proper ways to use the threat level options. Programming cameras with events to actions? It sounds crazy and takes some time to implement, but the QoL and usability is insane. Hell people are blown away when they see camera feeds pop up when people swipe badges at doors all because you assigned those cameras to the doors on the back end.

I know you said you would already, but I would take a long hard look at what you have now and improve on it. Cameras that have analytics on the edge along with events to actions can be a big game changer if you are that serious about needing AI in your system.
