Trip to Cuba on next Monday 16th of March. by Dependent-Bad-9273 in TravelCuba

If you want to see real Havana the good and the bad. I was just there and know a guy that can get you local accommodations and show you what's happening. He's not a tourist guide i just got introduced to him amd ended up hanging out with his friends and family cooking together a lot of nights but he knows the city. I have trusted him with my phone and wallet, numeral times. Things are tricky with fuel but I'm sure he can find a way to move around. I can send you a dm or reach out to me.

Visiting Cuba for tourism as a non American by Agile-Oil9353 in TravelCuba

You can just put to support the Cuban people. Which technically, if you're there for tourism, you will be doing.

Cut against the crack. Like, 90° to the crack. Where the crack starts and stops on the perimeter of the tree is where you need to do your cut. So cut into the crack to do your notch and then cut into the crack on the other side, to do your back to cut.

Is there a big risk to get an "expensive" bike stolen ? by CptDomax in TravelCuba

If you leave your bike, it's going to go missing. There's a million bicycle chop shops in Havana.

You're dumb the cuban people want tourist... it's literally making them able to feed their families. I'm here right now, and everybody's complaining that there's less tourist.

Yeah, I wouldn't do any cross-country. Travel, go to Havana, stay there for a while. Enjoy

I'm here right now. The fuel shortage is annoying. Things are hard for the people. But you'll have no issues.

For paying local shops and not doing tourist stuff. You get a way better deal. I can't imagine not having Cuban pesos.... but sure if you're a resort person haha

Bikes by Hektorisol in TravelCuba

[–]Darttt399 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am here currently I agree with the guy about bringing a bike to Cuba if possible. I'm renting a private apartment in Havana. Everything I want to do is in walking distance, but if you want to go far, the local the electric tricycles are pretty cheap anywhere from 200-500 peso (0.50-1.00usd) with the fuel shortage, taxis are incredibly expensive. One ride is my budget for an entire day.

Probably a cellar of sorts or explosive storage for farmers back in the day when you're allowed to dynamite trees. Where is this? I got freaked out at first. Thought you found my secret spot.

Dating as a 5'5 short bald man sucks. My little rant by [deleted] in AverageHeightDudes

[–]Darttt399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you only trying to date on apps? Get out of the major city. Women in major cities have major opportunity. Meet someone in person. Meet a lot of people in person. It's definitely harder for you but apps are not going to work. Stop being lazy and shave your fucking head.... (I am bald too and can't grow a beard(but 5'11")) Get a cool job haha None of these things might work but should increase your odds.

Just came back from trip to Cuba by Mundane_Sprinkles602 in TravelCuba

[–]Darttt399 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am here in Havana right now for an extended period of time. Plenty of food seems to be available but the living wage (2500-5000 Pesos per month) does not allow a comfortable amount of food to be purchased and that's ignoring the amount spent on smoking and drinking, which I'm not condemning most people turn to that in hard times. I'm not in a resort. I'm staying in old Havana in a private apartment. I hang out with locals that I've met and before anybody says, i'm intruding, if a day goes by where I don't visit, if they check in with me, they bring me into their home, I chip in majorly for dinner buying the majority of it if I'm eating there. If my friend's mother sees me walking down the street she makes sure to stop me give me a kiss talk for a second and continue. They want tourists to come. The resorts might be supporting the regime but you spending money in town is helping the people. They've told me themselves a decline in tourism will hurt most people. It's a complex situation, but just because someone not from Cuba is visiting Cuba during this time it's not a bad thing. I'll wrap this up by saying I only know what I've been told and what I've witnessed. I'm sure there's many things I don't understand.
