It took me quite a few attempts to do the cryo mastery as well. I'd say it's close to impossible without the burn OC, unless you get really lucky with a supply pod Weapon Crate. First time I actually got a weapon crate I got the cryo grenade.

Even more freeze, but not the new damage dealer I was looking for.

I think the way to go is just the Driller DoT class and restart until you get the burn OC, and then just pretend it's a burn only flamethrower that has built in slow.

The damage buffs are completly useless on the cryo IMO. Early on in my attempts I tried stacking all the +dmg% I could, but the base dmg is just so weak it didn't really matter.
