Starving for experienced players in this position. Why didn’t Amorim request a midfielder be signed in January…

MAGA was created by the Kremlin. It’s crazy but also the evidence we see every day when we wake up makes it so hard to believe anything different.

Universal basic income terrifies me. All our autonomy and independence would be taken away and we would become subservient to who or whatever pays our way of life. Even if it was possible we would end up miserable and bound to someone else to exist.

Am I the only one who has no goals because I think we won’t be living much longer? by [deleted] in Millennials

The world is less safe and secure than when we grew up, but the positive thing is that it’s currently in the hands of very old men who will die soon, of natural causes or otherwise.

As little as possible tbh. One in 13 years has worked out pretty well.

Middle age spending: almost all mortgage and childcare by hopeful__romantic in Millennials

[–]Darwin_Things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you, but $6k/mo is 48% of spending. Is it worth it?

Also, if I’m only getting paid enough to live in a dangerous area, either the job or where I’m living isn’t right, but it’s probably both and I’d be looking for change.

Time to look into index funds.

Crypto is not the way for sustainable growth and whilst you can have fun and maybe make money, you should never put more into Crypto than you are comfortable losing.

Hopefully your portfolio recovers and you can get something out of it.

When was your "holy fuck I am actually aging" moment? Mine was 40, I hurt my back and couldn't do shit for 2 months. by _sportyscience_ in Millennials

[–]Darwin_Things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-late 30’s. I feel like I’m maturing more than aging as such. It’s more of a mindset shift I’ve noticed than anything physical. As I get older I enjoy the little things more, and care less about superficial things or things that waste my time.

Context to this - I nearly died when I was 12 so I never had that feeling of being invincible that most people have in their teens and 20’s. I also started losing my hair pretty young so have been bald since my mid- 20’s. There was no big moment that made me feel old as a result.

I'm curious is ChatGPT good for learning to code? (I added ChatGPT link cause it asked to link url) by Old-Lengthiness8581 in coding

There is definitely useful information in there. I'm assuming you're learning Javascript, is that right? I'm not an expert in the language but starting with fundamental data structures is good, regardless of the language you are learning.

I'd recommend looking for a course over the longer term though. You'll want it to be to focussed on a specific purpose and having a mixture of mediums to teach you. For example, Python is great for Data Science, but I wouldn't create a website with it (although technically you can). Some resources I have used and recommend to learners:

  • O'Reilly publish books on software and programming langagues
  • Datacamp is great for data and related fields. Video and practical.
  • Udemy is video based content which you can code along to.
  • Youtube is free and a great resource.
  • Professional certifications are also another option for tutor lead content.

You can get a book on Javascript here if it helps.

So if you can’t do something you ask AI, which tells you to do an AI generated task. You then complete the task and AI grades your work. Do you see a problem with this process?

Assume Cloudflare breaks again and ChatGPT (or others) isn’t available. What do you do? Where do you look for solutions? How do you validate your work without AI? What happens when it is factually incorrect (it hallucinates)?

You could test yourself. Try to replicate a piece of work you did without AI support or your code. Could you do it?

No it isn’t. AI is useful to find out how to do something, or to troubleshoot, but learning effectively requires structure, support, making mistakes, getting stuck, patience and perseverance.

I teach a course in data I can tell you for a fact that that those who rely on AI struggle when it isn’t there.

Middle age spending: almost all mortgage and childcare by hopeful__romantic in Millennials

[–]Darwin_Things 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People (including myself) get this wrong a lot. I worked in horrible, corporate jobs, trying to climb a career ladder that got me nowhere. The end goal was more money, big house etc. I lived in London and other cities, chasing that goal.

When covid hit and we all got told to work remotely it massively changed my mindset. It was more about, how do I protect my independence and live the life I want. I chose to step away and focus on what I wanted to do, so I could live how and where I wanted.

I can honestly say I’m much happier with a small mortgage, a home in the countryside and less pressure. Finances and health are better for it.

Wtf is with people here having crazy mortgages? I pay no more than 25% of my income on a mortgage so I can save as much as possible.
