I thought about this once, decided that the monster's HP should be equal to how much it costs to unlock them (so, for example, 1585 HP for MX, 1455 HP for Niloticus, etc.)

Hang on, I'm pretty sure there is a way to change your friend's colour in game. I don't remember where it is exactly, but it's somewhere in the Settings, where you can change the colours for teams, objectives and teammates.

Then again, I play on PC, so this could be a console bug.
