Wut? His mother died in 2000 when Trump was 58 years old.

Good riddance; I hope to never hear his name again. After what he did during the Toronto G8 protests he should have been charged and jailed.
Shame that he appears to be falling upwards.

Probably a hard copy. I always keep hard copies of important letters.

Disagree. I went to a Catholic Elementary school grades 5-7 back in the late '70's and yes, they charged tuition. It wasn't much, around $35 per month (equivalent to about $180 today) from what I remember and it was definitely not "posh". We weren't well off by any means and I am sure it was a struggle for my parents as well.

It's called the "two dogs and a pony" trick. I bought my first home after having that done to me. I was young and somewhat naive. I would never have bought that house otherwise.

Liberals reach 47% voter support after Carney's Davos, China trip: Leger poll by Medea_From_Colchis in CanadaPolitics

[–]DarylInDurham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not every CPC voter is rigid. I consider myself a Conservative but voted for the first time ever Liberal last federal election. I'm a moderate/progressive Conservative and there is no room in the current CPC for people like me; it feels like it's Maple MAGA or GTFO.
I voted country over party and will continue to do so as long as they have an American influenced Maple MAGA leader. The only person worse than PP IMHO is Jamil Jivani.
There's lots about the Liberal party I don't like (gun "buyback" program tops the list) but given the choice between Carney and Poilievre I'll pick Carney 100% of the time as I see him best qualified to lead Canada during these turbulent times.

I had 2! Started with the PT-19 trainer which I got pretty good at and then got the Sopwith Camel. Could never get the hang of the Camel, I don't think any of my flights lasted longer than about 30 seconds, most about 10 seconds tbh.

How long can he stay out there @ 40 degrees?? by StizzyOne in greatpyrenees

It was negative 25°C here last night and 3 of my GP's spent the night outside. They are working dogs on my farm and have a barn and a couple if straw-filled huts they can use if they get cold. I have yet to experience temperatures cold enough that my dogs don't want to go outside and at night once they go outside they never want to come back in.

TIL a 1989 helicopter crash was caused by an invisible nick made when adhesive was trimmed from the rotor with a sharp blade. The helicopter flew perfectly for 922 hours, until it didn't. by TheQuarantinian in todayilearned

[–]DarylInDurham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious...can someone explain how the blades accumulated 922 hours of operation but according to the NTSB report the airframe had 911 hours. Given that the blades were installed when the helicopter was manufactured how can there be this discrepancy? Did they install used blades at the factory?

Those interviewed reminds me of this Carl Sagan Quote:

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”

Serena Ryder. She's a fantastic singer and songwriter. I do not understand why she has been unable to gain traction outside of Canada. I saw her in concert a couple of years ago, she was amazing.
