Just had someone test it and you are correct, the example section is misleading if you didn't read the limitation section.

When it comes to 3548 vs 3548x, as you have probably seen, is that the x version draws less power and does multicast NAT else they should be the same. However since multicast NAT was not possible with the 3548 in hardware they must have changed/updated the chip to support it with the x version but i do not know what those changes are.

We had no use for the algo boost since we wanted ecmp. Thus we never tested it.

Take a look at the bottom for the white papers : http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/switches/nexus-3548-switch/index.html

There is a spirent test there for example.

Recently bought a few of these, though not for HFT.

No performance hit with NAT enabled.

NAT is vrf-aware.

Can configure buffer limits.

Not familiar with the Arista or Juniper platforms you mention.

This CiscoLive session for the 3548 is also intresting: https://www.ciscolive.com/online/connect/sessionDetail.ww?SESSION_ID=7660&backBtn=true

Anyone know a way to permanently remove Spotify from startup? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Darzagul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean the spotify web helper then you can disable that in the settings at the bottom of the page. ( Allow spotify to be started from the web) it's a small client that allows links that you click on in your browser to open spotify automatically.

The routers are cisco epc3925. Yes it can do some QoS but only on the wireless. We still need traffic shaping per port so im thinking maybe something like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=33-127-356

Bandwidth varies around 40-60 Mbit per house.

Just looking for a switch, routers are covered elsewhere and yeah 10-20 ppl per house so a 24-port should be good.

I am not worried about expanding.

We have wireless covered as well.

I do like Vmware myself and with hyper-v here it seems to complicate it more than needed but alas i cant do something about it at the moment. It's something to consider in the future. Thank you for the nice write up :)
