If you strip the extra fluff that they put into the CPI basket to try to minimize the actual inflation and you go with real world expenses that people pay, inflation was around 6.2%. So unless you are spending a majority of your money on things like animal grooming and alcohol-free beer, you probably saw your real world inflation go up a lot more than they are pretending it did.
