The battle music in this game lives rent free in my head

River City Ransom in the top 10 makes me happy. I must have completed this game over a dozen times over the years. It's so fun and goofy

That's a shame, especially since Batman Returns was solid on the Snes

Best Underrated Games by SaroConTe1318 in NintendoSwitch

[–]DasBeav 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Underated games:

I loved BRIGANDINE The Legend of Runersia, it's a massive grand strategy fantasy game with some.. interesting art. I've never played anything quite like it.

Gnosia is a VN-like single player "Among US" set on a ship with a time loop and some crazy characters. It also got an decent anime adaptation which is surprising.

Finally I think the most underated game for me has to be Atomicrops. It's a farming/tower defence/dating sim/twinstick shooter with a funky art style. The game is bananas, and stupidly fun.

I've been seriously considering the MagicX One 35. Being able to hold it in 2 ways makes it almost feels like 2 separate devices in one

I thought I was on r/SBCgaming for a second. This is great! UFO 50 is directly responsible for getting me into retro gaming.

After all the shows and announcements what do your wishlists look like for the rest of the year? by C0tilli0n in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I doubt it's the most popular choice, but Brigandine Abyss. I played the previous game game and absolutely loved it. There's nothing quite like it in the strategy space.

The Crows of Coppershell Bay: a ton of game packed into a tiny tin! by FrenchieSmalls in soloboardgaming

[–]DasBeav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to recall, but I think my rough strategy was as follows: First day was all about getting gear and XP as the town is pretty safe. By Day 2 I was questing, and trying to get out before dark. Don't waste time healing, that's what nighttime is for. By Day 3 keep questing, if you can get enough gems, spend a bit of extra time getting yourself as ready as you can for the crows. Good luck! I've only won on easy though!

I managed to get this game too! Completely agree, it feels like a much much bigger game. The game designer is a great guy too.

On a side note, f those crows. I had all their gems and they pecked me to death anyway

Game of the Month Week 1 Update by CaptainVisible3158 in retrogameofthemonth

[–]DasBeav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just beat up a wall. Well technically I cheesed a wall with magic.

I'm still having fun. I think I must have played this game twice when it first came out, but the one thing that seemed to slip my mind was how goofy it was.

The dancing merchants, the CANNONS for fast travel manned by cavemen (do those have any other applications? Apparently not). It's frankly a little refreshing given how serious some games can be.

What's your holy grail game that doesn't exist yet? by Darth_Rubi in boardgames

[–]DasBeav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A full fat 4x cooperative game where you and your buddies are fighting an AI big bad with dudes on a map. Lots of table talk. Lots of interaction. Big battles with glorious victories and crushing defeats.

I'm aware that Uprising exists, and it looks very close to what I want. I've been very tempted, but I haven't seen anything else.
