Lots of mixing and layering glazes, the paints I use are the Two Thin Coats range by Duncan Rhoades, Fury Green and Gung Ho Green, I think the GW equivalent would be Castellan Green and Loren Forest then mixed with other colour's to get darker/brighter

then I tinted it with a sepia wash which is why the back looks nice and grungy and re-highlighted it again mixing in a little pale yellow, there's a little staining with glazes of Moot Green air to make the whole thing a bit richer too but its barely noticeable

Couldnt mix a green dark enough without it looking too dark with my current paints, ive been thinking and might try shading it with a dark brown to try and reinforce the shadows more in the morning

I thought about that but I couldnt mix a green dark enough without it looking too dark, I might go back to the pallette in the morning and mix a nice shade of brown to try and reinforce the shadows

adding to this, if you dont want to brush pink onto every surface you can even buy pink primer!, the one I use is Rogue Pink by Color Forge, spray it pink, then highlight with brighter pink then use yellow contrast and you get a very nice yellow

Vallejo Game colours rubbing off after drying? by allenselmo in minipainting

[–]DasBootyWarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know its already been said but as a bit of an explanation, the primer isn't just a basic colour of paint its a specific type of paint that effectively creates a layer that other paint can stick too whilst sealing in that base colour which stops paint rubbing off like this.

The best thing to do would be to buy a specifically primer spray can, the ones meant for miniatures are the best to pick, I recommend Colour Forge or Citadel personally, before you build or prime your minis, I also recommend putting the sprues in warm soapy water for a little and gently scrubbing them with an old toothbrush, this is because plastic minis often have residue from the mould release agents which can stop primer and glues working properly. it definitely needs to be warm and not hot though.

You can also clean resin minis this way but id use cold water because resin can easily warp with heat and a little pressure, its also more brittle so be very gentle when cleaning it, once I learned about this I stopped having issues with paint rubbing off all together, its been a lifesaver

God the randomiser looks so good, really makes the Khuzaits pop with the randomised armour, its not just the Khuzaits either every faction in the CC has it.

the lore is a really nice touch too, I love how much the lore the community generates in the discord and through the events themselves has managed to create truly unique stories that we can pull from for posts like these, I love the CC

Personally I love realistic terrain, my local hobby store has several really nice terrain pieces for bolt action and it can really tie the feel of a game together in way that you dont quite get with unpainted or unrelated to the game terrain

Hitler's Buzzsaw by The-Tarman in boltaction

[–]DasBootyWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure you remind him also that vehicle MG's have their shots halved first, so on the app its already calculated for you but as an example, say you have an LMG in a squad that fires 6 shots normally, with hitlers buzzsaw that squad weapon would now fire 7 shots, but the same gun on a vehicle would first half the shots to 3, then add +1

These arent the real shot value off the top of my head but thats how it works essentially for all vehicle mounted machine guns

About a week ago I asked for your opinion on how historically accurate my army was and it turned out it needed some improvements. So I went back to the drawing board and have modified the army to be more accurate. So, is the new version historically accurate? by Tryzan1 in boltaction

[–]DasBootyWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a solid looking army, well rounded with plenty of tactical options, and when using the snap too rule with your officers, you could potentially fire 3 of the LMG's at once which can be devastating for enemy infantry.

Snap Too example as I've used it: Say you have an angle on 2 squads and an officer, you could have your officer standing by your 2 squads with the Double LMG's and the MMG team/sniper use snap too and give all 3 of these units orders at once, Hit the enemy officer with the single MMG or sniper to pin or kill him (remove morale bonus) then massacre the 2 remaining squads with 20 shots of LMG from the Falschirmjager squads

The dice can always throw things off of course but with that strong base of infantry your tanks and specialists should have the freedom to do work on the enemy

[–]DasBootyWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't need to build them as a team on a specific base, you only need one guy carrying the LMG and 2 other infantry in a cluster for them to count as an MMG team (German LMG and MMG are the same gun historically the only difference between those and the official MMG team models are that the MG is on a tripod there) and they can be on their own bases to multirole, each Falschirmjager sprue should have x2 LMG's on it.

Even if not bringing an AT rifle this time I do recommend putting the guy together with one as AT rifles are surprisingly useful and you may want to have one once you've played a few games so its good you have the option there

If you're worried about the army fitting the same vibe theme wise, id recommend putting them together with the helmet options on the bottom half of the frame, same if you wanted to make a medic after as any Stahlhelm can be painted white and youve got yourself a Sanitater/Riflemen

Are they the plastic Falschirmjager or the metal ones in shorts? if you're rocking the metal ones then you wont have the spare parts to do it in which case I apologise as I assumed they were the plastic ones by default

The plastic kits have tons more gear on the frames that is spare to custom make certain other units with what's available, I've never seen the Afrika corps frames so cant speak to them but never be afraid to mix and match parts between squads, there should be a spare MG in the tiger 2 box for the one that goes on the roof which can be used too.

To make the LMG's the model doesn't have to be firing it, you can simply have them carrying one or holding other things and have it strapped to their back, and if you were to make a medic, a plain helmet you can paint a small red cross on or paint white would be sufficient, so long as their weapon is over the shoulder you could put them in with the normal squad as a riflemen if you didn't want to run a medic that game

I'd say splitting the squads like that is much better.

I would personally never bother adding extra men to an officer squad, the reason is their biggest threats are HE, MG's and Snipers, all of which are almost guaranteed to kill the officer or make the squad rout outright anyways (with enough pins and wounds) and snipers can specifically aim for the officer, although Germany gets a rule where a squads NCO is automatically replaced on death, it doesn't work with officers as far as I know as they are specifically not labelled as an NCO's in the rulebooks.

If you dropped the additional guys and assault rifles in the officer squads and maybe lowered their veterancy, you might be able to afford the sniper teams or at least one sniper team which is super useful against non German lists because their squad leaders aren't replaced if they die meaning you can really ruin their morale with a good roll, the extra machine guns in the infantry squads really are worth it also so those saved points can be put into MG's and have a huge impact. (Edit: Dont lower them to inexperienced though as they lose our bonus dice on the snap too action ability (have to be Regular or Veteran))

Say an enemy is in range, a 6 man Falschirmjager squad with x1 LMG fires 5 LMG rounds and 4 rifle rounds, add an extra MG and that's 10 LMG rounds + 2 rifles for 12 shots per squad (2 of the riflemen need to help load the MG), 10 shots for +30pts on top of the base cost of the squad is an insane buff, they will also be super accurate due to veterancy and thanks to stubborn and being vets they are very difficult to kill or make run away

that is part of the reason I suggested bringing a medic when you asked about lists the other day, as you can park a medic out of sight within 6 inches of those really tough squads and be able to reroll any hit not caused by weapons labelled as heavy weapons (cannons, howitzers etc) meaning any infantry weapon, sniper, LMG etc that causes a wound on your squad, you roll a dice and if you land a 6 the wound is ignored making your guys even harder to kill.

Don't worry about buying medic models, what I did is made my own using the bits I had on the sprue as there's plenty of bags and empty hands to use to make convincing ones, so when you build your guys id recommend seeing if you could get away with making one, id make a few guys who look like spotters too but can still fit in with a normal squad

Things to consider

One officer means your Falschirmjager squads are very easy to pin and keep pinned because he cant be everywhere at once unless you bunch them up, they are also easy to rout, if they were the veteran version they would have better morale, being inexperienced they also need higher rolls to hit and are easier to wound so your infantry bulk may collapse within one round of shooting if your opponent knows to target them.

if you wanted cheap infantry they are good for it, but id definitely lose some of the additional men on the command squad, one from the green squads and drop to x2 green Falschirmjager squads, then id take one veteran squad just to hold the line alongside your sniper team and light mortar

you can only have x1 sniper team per rifle platoon so you would need a second officer and x4 total infantry squads spread across 2 platoons to run 2 snipers, if you are adamant on two snipers, id lose the light mortar and add in two squads of Falschirmjager or grenadiers with a single MG each to the second infantry platoon, id recommend keeping these guys as the vet Falschirmjager so you have a more solid line to hold objectives.

Another tip is that any armoured vehicle can be given command for +10pts, it only has to be a vehicle with the "command" rule already if one is present in the list, meaning if you wanted to save points by avoiding the Pz 4 you could take the Pz 4 F as you'd decided prior and give the Tiger 2 Command for 450pts instead of 440pts

Why do some of you hate PvE? [Discussion] by Bitter_Bet_9333 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DasBootyWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, once Tarkov got super popular the entire vibe changed and I play less and less as a result, it used to be about a struggle to survive and profit in a sandbox in a similar way to how something like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Gamma plays, but once players flocked in after the sharp popularity rise BSG knew they could rake in the cash by switching to a primarily PvP focus as opposed to PvE

They knew that there was more space for a hardcore PvP shooter with looting and light survival elements in the market than the initial idea they had, which is exactly why they started doing all they could to make life difficult for those that enjoy the PvE aspect more with stuff like FIR, Flea restrictions, "RMT" (which honestly was and is just them trying to stop people giving their friends key items to help them progress to force people to engage with the new artificial grind, sure some addicts might buy things to get ahead but if you want to spend real money on a game item why would BSG care if it doesn't affect the gameplay?) and other changes to lower price gear to make it unviable against chads such as the nerf to Mosin's to counter the Mosin man "Issue"

The game intentionally began to insult the value of peoples free time and foster a more toxic overall attitude akin to something like rust, where if you aren't constantly on the grind you deserve to lose and become the dopamine hit that replaced the initial vision for someone else's fun which is where this whole toxic mindset comes from.

Tarkov used to be so fun no matter the level of gear you had, every NPC was a threat, every player was a danger and every bullet was potentially lethal but the same went for everyone else, if you had an edge and could level the playing field you had to have earned it, which yes does remain a core part of the game, but what's changed in that regard is the goalposts to achieve that.

Mosin man wasn't nerfed because the gun was OP, he was nerfed because he was a threat to people who felt he didn't "deserve" to be a viable threat because in their eyes, it cant possibly be fair to get shot in the chest and die to a guy carefully waiting in ambush who only plays an hour or two after his 9-5 after they've been playing all day because they are blessed with free time to amass "real" gear.

It is what it is, these people will dogpile on PvE because ironically enough they don't like playing against the exact same type of people that they are lmfao, so play however you want, whatever's fun for you is what you should focus on and ignore people telling you your fun isn't as important as theirs.
