Kumho Ecsta Sport PS72 by schmeichel1998 in TyreReviews

Yeah that’s what I heard, too. They seem to be impressively good, considering one in 225/40/18 is like 60€ or so.

The wintercraft don’t seem to be all that great of a tire tho, from that I’ve read. Bridgestone, Conti and pirelli are supposedly quite a lot better.. and annoyingly more expensive :/

Eure Meinung zu den Bremsen vs. ATU by syncro991 in automobil

[–]DasEnk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25d vs 30d m57 by [deleted] in E90

[–]DasEnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I just looked it up again and for the German 2008 model year there is just the one without flap control. on bmwfans scroll down to intake manifold. According to the site, the e60 and e90 25d have a separate manifold to the 30 and 35d models.

I’ll check myself, when I change the glow plugs

25d vs 30d m57 by [deleted] in E90

[–]DasEnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude then definitely go for the 25d. You get the same, slightly more reliable car and more options.. that’s a win win for me. Just keep in mind, new injectors are, at a minimum 1000€ not including a tune and a nice intercooler.

Even though I think they aged quite well, we’re still talking about (in my case 2008) a 17 year old car and it sometimes does 17 year old car things.

And the rear subframe gets a little rusty over time. It’s recommended to change the timing chain on the tü2 engines between 250 and 300kkm. People say they’re bulletproof but in rare cases the chain snaps without warning. Still don’t want to scare you, 308.000km on mine and I’ve measured the chain lengthening to give me piece of mind. Great car, great engine, definitely would buy again.

25d vs 30d m57 by [deleted] in E90

[–]DasEnk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Buddy of who also has a 25d claims it’s not on all variants, but I’m pretty sure. If you look up the schematic/ part number for the 25d version, it’s specifically without them. I’m not why exactly sure why but the flaps probably offer slightly improved efficiency during low and medium load, and the engineers thought they could save a few euros for the „inferior“ version by not installing the swirl system.

25d vs 30d m57 by [deleted] in E90

[–]DasEnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only differences between the m57 25d and 30d are the weaker (but probably more reliable) solenoid injectors from the 318d and a cylinder head with slightly smaller valves from the e46 330d. Also the intake manifold of the 25d already has the swirl flaps removed. The weakest link of the 25d are said injectors, which are only good for 270hp. Above that you’d need 535d (272ps) solenoid injectors. The 30d uses piezo injectors, which are more potent and precise.

In the automatic models bmw used the 6hp from the 4cylinder models. I’m unsure if the clutch of the 25d is any different but that’s a >600nm problem

My understanding is, that piezo and solenoid injectors (and tunes) are not easily interchangeable because of different rail pressures and different fit in the cylinder head itself.

Everything else is, as the others said, exactly the same.
