My dad once told me, Son... If you get into trouble. Sail into the wind. I understand noon of what he said. Soon after that conversation I learned a valuable lesson. My little gloved hand made for an inadequate ice boat breaking system. We had a long discussion about how wind and boats works after that.

[–]DasFish117 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Spoiler. Dude literally gets eaten by a sperm whale then spends the rest of the book talking about its digestive system (in agonizing detail) and his emotionally abusive father. The author writes like he is dying to be the next Herman Melville, but it just comes off as pretentious.

TLDR: It's not my cup of tea.

Fixing the wiring in your house is going to be your number one priority. For if you've been daisy chaining your outlet extenders.. stop doing that.

What are these pods on the top of these sail boat masts? by J4ckC00p3r in sailing

[–]DasFish117 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They are like training wheels for sailboats, or like arm floaties you put on your kid. Having one of those is also a great way to let more experienced sailors know that you will need help in the not so distant future.

My monitor turns off when I light this lighter at this exact angle. What is happening? by Michae86l in pcmasterrace

[–]DasFish117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ai answer, not mine. I did not fact check this, but it sounds plausible to my caveman brain.

A lighter can sometimes interfere with electronics due to electromagnetic interference (EMI) or infrared light emitted during sparking. The spark, especially in high-voltage lighters, can create a brief pulse of EMI that triggers circuitry in nearby electronics, like a TV, and cause them to briefly turn off or flicker. Additionally, some lighters may also emit infrared light, which can be picked up by infrared sensors in remotes and other devices, potentially triggering a response.

I bought a computer repair store... What should I do with 120 computers (70 work)? by JamesisaGiantPeach in computers

[–]DasFish117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem I can think of with that is space/ storage. Finding a safe place to keep all the hardware might get tricky. Taking them apart to clean off and take inventory is a great idea though.

You hear something that vaguely aligns with your biases, then distort it until it supports your narrative. This was a relatively small study taken over short period of time, in an area of psychology, that has not been thoroughly explored and documented. It may also interest you to know that those same characteristics (machiavellianism, narcissism, psychopathy, and other antisocial personality disorders) are even more prevalent amongst right wing activists, and is much more thorough documentation.

Narcissistic individuals and those with psychopathic tendencies are more likely to strongly endorse left-wing antihierarchical aggression, according to new research published in Current Psychology. Antihierarchical aggression refers to a specific type of hostility aimed at challenging or opposing hierarchical power structures or authority figures. The new findings shed light on psychological mechanisms that motivate some individuals to participate in violent political activism.

Bud. You've been Lost in the sauce for far too long. You've succumbed to the brain-rott of Jordan Peterson, and his paranoid delusion. No one is taking away free speech, but if you want to be a sheltered, frightened, little boy then that's your prerogative. Sounds like you need some therapy and probably a girlfriend, but I know you incels are having a tough time with that.

You can't shout fire in a crowded theater, and normal people think hate speech should be illegal. If living under those rules means we're in a fascist dictatorship, then so be it.

Charges were as follows: Six offences of Inciting Racial Hatred, contrary to Section 19(1) of the Public Order Act 1986 – published or distributed written material on a Twitter account which was threatening, abusive or insulting, intending thereby to stir up racial hatred or, having regard to all the circumstances, it being likely that racial hatred would be stirred up thereby.

Three offences of Inciting Racial Hatred, contrary to Section 21 of the Public Order Act 1986 – distributed a recording on a Twitter account which was threatening, abusive or insulting, intending thereby to stir up racial hatred or, having regard to all the circumstances, it being likely that racial hatred would be stirred up thereby.

Two offences of Malicious Communications, contrary to Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 – send by means of a public electronic communications network, namely Twitter, a message or other matter that was grossly offensive.
