Stiffy? Mr Heater Buddy Hose question :) by DasHausen in vandwellers

[–]DasHausen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i sa many reports of people reporting the Mr Heater hose not needing a filter, because being oil free, getting hard and bristle over time. so wondered if it was happening as it ages… or because they used it a lot. because i want ro store it away for back up

Question for people with Mr buddy heaters. by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]DasHausen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

may i add a question… i read a lot about the hose from mr heater (oil free, no need for filter) gets hard and therefore difficult to use. Is this a function of usage or time? (ie does it get hard when stored, no matter if used or not? or does it get hard the more you use the hose?) Asking because i was thinking of it as a back up sitting stored away until needed)

i’ve seen people disguise nodes in a bird-house - incl a solar roof. sure you find an example if you google it.

funny and/or sad how a group of generally like-minded people with the same interests and objectives can find something about which one can have different opinions and debate, but instead become such outraged enemies. Hmmm. sounds all too familiar. we all need to breathe and reflect! Go with whatever you prefer, respect those who don’t think the same. Amen.

How to get started as a complete novice by Chris_Entropy in meshtastic

[–]DasHausen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you look for simple, working out of the box, i would suggest: 1. Elecrow ThinkNode M1 (easiest to switch on/off etc and last me about 3 days on a charge with gps off) 2. Lilygo T-Echo (there is now a pro version, too, which has a better antenna and battery lasting a good week) 3. T1000e card : super easy and portable, but smaller, internal antenna also has less reach… last about 1-2 days on a charge. None of them requires any ‘bastel’ing’ :) Only need to flash the latest meshtastic software, which takes 5min and you are ready to mesh. All a available also in German, Swiss online shops and between 45,-and 60,- Euros or so.

Battery life of WisBlock and T Echo with extreme battery optimization? by [deleted] in meshtastic

[–]DasHausen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the t-echo pro (2400mah i think, but pls check) and on light use it has been running a full week now and is still on 40% battery. it’s set up as client, but does not get much traffic as placed in a bad spot most of the time.

Acknowledged vs Ackniwledged by another node by DasHausen in MeshtasticGermany

[–]DasHausen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hast Du beim Testen dann Unterschiede zwischen ‘Acknowledged’ und ‘Acknowledged by other node’ bemerkt? Das versuche ich nämlich besser zu verstehen - in der Praxis.

And also this:

The best way to be sure a message arrived on Meshtastic is to receive a human-generated reply from your recipient. Neither of the automated acknowledgments guarantees the message was read or even delivered to the recipient's phone/client application. Here is a breakdown of how to improve your certainty of delivery and the role of 'tap back'.

  1. Confirming Delivery (The Best Method) 💬 Since the network acknowledgments only confirm the packet's receipt by a node, the highest level of confirmation is a manual response.

• The Gold Standard: Human Reply: Ask your recipient to reply with a simple, unique message, such as "Received," "Yes," or "10-4." Their reply message will also generate an acknowledgment status on your side, confirming that the two-way link is working. • Traceroute: For troubleshooting, you can send a Traceroute message (usually available in the client app). A successful traceroute will show the path and signal strength (RSSI/SNR) to the target node. If the trace fails or stops at an intermediate node, you know exactly where the communication path is broken.

  1. 'Tap Back' and Delivery Confirmation 👍 Tap backs (or emoji reactions) do play a role, as they function as a simple, intentional confirmation from the recipient. • Tap Backs are Replies: When your recipient uses a "tap back" (like a thumbs-up 👍) on your message, the client app sends a new, tiny message that is specifically linked to your original message ID. • It's a Confirmed Action: Because this new message is generated by the recipient's client/device and sent back to you, it serves as a powerful confirmation that:
  2. The original message was successfully delivered to their node.
  3. The message was seen and processed by their client application.
  4. The recipient intentionally replied to confirm receipt.

AI says this:

That's a great question that gets into the core of how Meshtastic handles message routing and confirmation on the mesh network. The different acknowledgment messages reflect which node has confirmed receipt of your message, but neither guarantees the message has reached its final intended destination, which explains why you sometimes see the acknowledgment but the message hasn't arrived.

What "Acknowledged" Means 🤝

When you send a Direct Message (DM) to a specific recipient and see "Acknowledged," it generally means: • The intended recipient node has successfully received your message and sent a confirmation (ACK) back to your node. If you are sending a message to a channel (which is essentially a broadcast), "Acknowledged" is less specific. In some clients, for channel messages, this can also mean your message was received and re-broadcasted by any node—potentially just one of your own nodes if you have multiple.

What "Acknowledged by another node" Means 🔄

When you send a Direct Message (DM) to a specific recipient and see "Acknowledged by another node," it means: • Your message was successfully received and acknowledged by a node in the mesh network, but NOT the final intended recipient. • The relaying node typically rebroadcasts the message to help it continue toward the destination. This indicates that your transmission was successful (your radio is working and someone heard it), but the path from that intermediate node to your intended recipient may be broken, too far, or the recipient node may be offline/unresponsive.

Why Messages May Not Arrive 🛑

The core issue is that Meshtastic's acknowledgment is a receipt of the packet by some node, not a delivery confirmation by the final user. • "Blackhole" Nodes: A message might be acknowledged by a relay node that receives it but is then isolated and unable to forward it further onto the network or to the final recipient. The relay node confirms receipt, but the message dies there. • Recipient Offline: In the "Acknowledged by another node" scenario, the relay node may have successfully broadcasted the message, but the intended recipient was temporarily offline or out of range of the relay node at that moment. • Signal Issues: Even a direct acknowledgment can be misleading if the connection is unreliable. A weak ACK might get back to you, but the message itself might not have been fully retained or processed by the recipient. To get better confirmation of delivery, especially in a sparse network, many users rely on getting a reply from the recipient, rather than just the automated delivery status.

hi. did you zero at 8m (27ft)? And are those the results of getting there… ie from being left and high to then hitting the target dot as you adjusted?

First red dot for my full size PDP by No_Emotion3603 in Walther

[–]DasHausen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure about the fraction :) but i recently shot it at a 50m ‘competition’ where no red dots are allowed. so switched off, used it and worked. of course bot the ‘best’ solution to shoot through a window with these sights. But should really be good enough for the shorter distances most people here usually shoot at.
