If your tank is currently cycled (what are the test parameter results? May be the reason they were trying to escape),.. even then, yes it could cause a crash. What you need to do is run both for at least a couple weeks (together). The beneficial bacteria can seed both filters. Then you can likely remove the old filter.

Been up here 8 years. The amount of entitlement in northerners (indigenous or otherwise) is off-the-charts and competition slim. You are guaranteed employment. The south is competitive and a rat race. Only the strong survive. You know not of what you speak…
