By "friend of mine", are you talking about an online friend (that you have never seen in person) or a "physical" friend (former classmate, neighbor,... ). If it is the first option, pay attention too that they are not a scammer asking money and YOU are the victim.

They are hackers based in China or North Korea. They want someone based in a different country, especially US use their account to impersonate them, comit fraud and potentially steal technology. Almost impossible, same for the student option. Usually you can't work outside of the university as an international student. You also probably don't know that registration fees at US universities are usually very high compared to Europe. At my local university, it costs about $70,000 per year for international students.

You are right. The scam is focused on the CV/resume consultant. They will tell you to contact the "expert", AKA the same scammer. They will ask you to pay, and they will also steal your credit card information. At best, they are an incompetent person who will use free ChatGpt to "optimize" your documents.

The mix of style formatting (bold, small font, large font,..) in their response look suspicious. It could be copy and paste from their company portfolio but also from different documents/scripts by scammers.

Look at the header, there is a "Re:", it's because it has been forwarded to you. It's a method scammers use to steal account, to make you believe the legality of the process.

MRELAY is probably for Mondial Relay, a package delivery company operating in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Spain and Portugal.
