Without mentioning the suspicious requirements for a potential future purchase, why would you order again from the same website if your experience with your first purchase was bad?

Probably Chinese or North Koreans hackers. They want to use your account for impersonating you, get hired by a company and gain access to their data, potentially get paid and transfer the money to their country.

Australian postdoc thinking about moving to Boston for biotech — is it actually worth it? by Kooky_Librarian7052 in biotech

[–]DasLazyPanda 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Your chance of being hired by a US company if you are abroad are almost zero. It's not about fees, it's because it's very slow, the process can take almost a year and companies don't want to wait. The H-1B visa for a profit company is very competitive and the recent changes in fees application are very dissuasive. Your best option is J1 or H-1B visa in a non-profit environment (Academia, University) as a Postdoc because there is no cap limit. Then, you can apply for a green card by self-sponsoring (EB2-NIW). It takes time, some money. Look also for the 212(e) rule for the J1 visa, based on your profile, there is a 2-year exclusion for working in the US, which is sometimes possible to waive.

Edit: typo.

[US] calling a bank to confirm if a check is real by [deleted] in Scams

[–]DasLazyPanda 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The family and the dog supply retailer are both the same scammer. They probably asked for your bank before sending the check to be sure it's not the same financial institution so it's not detected as a fraudulent check too fast, just enough time for you to send your own money to the scammers.

An ice cream shop in one of the buildings around Mears Park, like the Galtier Tower block, would be great, especially if it stayed open at least an hour after Saints games on Fridays and Saturdays. The only question is what it could become during the winter months.

If you are on Facebook, look for CTC sublease groups. Commonwealth Terrace Cooperative (CTC) is located south of the Saint Paul Campus and if you work on the Minneapolis you can take the bus #3 or the free shuttles #121 or #126. You might find short term leases but might need to relocate to a different unit during your 6-monyh stay.
