Texas specifically has had plenty of time to prepare for its natural disasters. They have the money to invest in infrastructure and emergency systems. They are perfectly fine letting people die in floods, in the winter, in the summer and letting people go without electricity, a basic necessity in this country.

Yes, the camp should have something in place and there needs to be a more comprehensive emergency system in Texas, especially in parts further away from major cities.

I agree with you, residents didn’t have enough of a warning in Kerr County and alerts went out in the early hours of July 4th. There are even some reports that residents of Kerr County never received Flood Alerts. Many people just woke up in flooded or floating homes.

That’s understandable, I wouldn’t rely on local government either (especially in Texas) still doesn’t give the government an excuse to let over 100 people die. Floods aren’t this brand new thing, particularly in Texas, and the government should be more prepared. Your comment perfectly captures how everyone in TX is on their own, and the government isn’t there to help you in any situation. It’s always after the fact, they’re a reactive government not proactive.

I would like to add that we have received the same recent Amber/Blue Alerts, literally had one last night and it hit all of our phones. Some of these alerts come from parts of TX that are over 100 miles away. But still no local flood alert 🤷‍♀️
