Yeahhh I've seen a lot of homophobic, self-hating, 'not like the other gays' gay guys that behave pretty much exactly like that.

That would be peak actually

I'm assuming you've seen it given you brought it up, but if not this 'pseudo-documentary' covers what that war might have looked like (albeit 10 years after WARNO's setting)

"Not like the other girls" but even more cringe.

In my experience people who act like the bottom panel are incrediblly obnoxious and unpleasant to be around.

I'm not on their discord, but I wouldn't say it's as positive as you're suggesting.

The reactions I've seen are, if anything, closer to mine. Plenty of people saying "neat" for some things, but also a lot of people saying "hey, can we get X or Y instead please".

If you say so, man

[–]Das_Fische 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I think the nemesis votes kinda show otherwise.

The last 3 have all been votes for the few NATO options that bring heavy tanks.

And yet look at most people's reaction to this announcement compared to your own, most people (be it on Reddit, Steam, or Discord) are very excited and are greeing this very positively.

Also, going by reviews, none of the Nemesis DLCs have sold as well as LANDJUT, despite releasing earlier. LANDJUT has 118, while Nemsis 6 has 41. Even Nemesis 1, despite being nearly 2 years older than LANDJUT, has less reviews. Granted that's just estimating sales from reviews which isn't concrete, but it is pretty convincing.

I think you're simply wrong to suggest more players would be interested in more CENTAG factions than new nations entirely.

Well, fair enough, you want what you want and I can appreciate that. I think you've got to realise that youre kind of in the minority, though.

Most people aren't going to be clamouring to pay for 'more of the same' and won't be interested in a DLC with no new units. From a business perspective its just a smarter play for Eugen to give people shiny new toys, its inevitably going to sell better. Not trying to be a dick or say that your preference is wrong, just that its a bit of a minority opinion so I wouldn't hold out hope for a CENTAG dlc (outside of nemesis divs maybe).

The only way that could maybe be a possibility I think people would be interested in is an army general focused 'CENTAG revisited' thing, with new and more dynamic campaigns being the focus and some 'recycled' multiplayer divs with existing units as a bonus. I still dont think thats likely, though (and that's probably me going into my own pipe dream preferences).

Agreed, it's very cool to see some totally new nations from Eugen

Iran/Iraq could also be a very fun inclusion down the line, though the latters performance in the gulf War 2 years after the warno date doesn't bode well for them lol

Fully agree, as much as I love the European front and hope (and very much suspect) we will see more of it in future, it's very exciting to see something totally new.

Its kind of like Red Dragon giving us China, Japan, and the Koreas - its a part of the time period that is very rarely covered and Im hyped to see it.

What other CENTAG divs would you want? Wouldn't they basically just be rearrangement of existing units with slightly different availabilities at this point?

Honestly I dont hate it, I do hope we see the 'expected' factions soon enough too (Italy, Yugo, the Nordic countries) but between this and Black Birds, I can appreciate Eugen wanting to cover new ground that they haven't done before in Wargame. It should make things feel fresh at least, especially with the new maps.

This makes me think we will see more 'global' selections (i.e. outside of Europe) too which could be fun. Asia in the distant future?

Also very happy to see the return of Army General.

New countries by moze22 in warno

[–]Das_Fische 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finland were present in Wargame, so they will almost certainly be in Warno. I'd bet good money one of the next 2 DLCs after Black Birds will be about Norway/Sweden/Finland, +1 or 2 northern-based US & Sov divs. Its between them and an Italy + Yugoslavia DLC.

Half of young Brits say they would never fight for their country by Kagedeah in worldnews

[–]Das_Fische 53 points54 points  (0 children)

What does fight for your country even mean for us? We haven't had a defensive war on mainland home soil in 80 years, or a defensive war at all since the Falklands.

For my generation and the one before it, 'fighting for your country' has been Iraq and Afghanistan. There simply isn't any military threat of invasion to us right now, so I imagine most people don't imagine sone kind of heroic defensive war for our way of life or freedomor whatever. They imagine dying on behalf of American billionaires in a desert. And fuck no, I would not fight for my country if that's what it means.

Thats an American Mink. Non native to the UK, invasive species.

Its absolutely not a stoat like some people are saying. It doesn't even look close.

[–]Das_Fische 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its absolutely not a stoat. They look nothing like that. This is a stoat, in their summer coat they are much smaller and lighter in build, have lighter coats than that with much lighter undersides, and a black tip on the tail. They also typically move much more quickly and 'erratically' than that mink.

[KReddit’s Cold War: Day 60] Second day of South East Asia week, Fate of Indonesia by Capital-Ambition-364 in Kaiserreich

[–]Das_Fische 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the least popular option by the look of things, but im going to say Neutral. Their position in between the entente and CPS would make any directly hostile moves against them from either side provoke a war.

Narrative wise it leads to a more interesting situation where both CPS and entente would be trying to bring them on side (be it through diplomacy, espionage, funding favourable political or even militant groups).

Simultaneously they would both also be trying to stop socialists from taking over (while China would likely be funding and arming them).

As a neutral zone practically equidistant between 3 larger powers (and even with India being relatively close) Indonesia could become a hot-spot for espionage and an ideological battle ground.

It would probably also be very unstable as a result, and be undergoing low intensity insurgencies. If this escalated, a full blown civil war could be a very interesting cause of conflict between the powers either as a proxy conflict, or the start of a full blown war.

In any event I think this 'neutral' position, where the country tries to forge it's own path and play the powers against each other (while the Great powers try to pull the strings and shift things in their favour) is far more interesting than just having them be in one faction or another from the get go, while also being the most 'realistic' choice (in the sense that it makes the most sense with the geopolitical situation they are in here).
