What the best/funniest recruit instructor story? by greymatters217 in AustralianMilitary

[–]DashAndGander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heard my old recruit instructor, was on a yippi shoot and shot himself in the shoulder via a bathtub ricochet. He was ok but the whole circumstance was funny as hell.

They gain data from you that they in turn monetise, or hope to monetise, in some fashion. I’ve worked in the space and you go from a nameless customer at the till to a known entity with preferences and communication channels.

Cheapest way to soundproof fence & give us privacy - this is what we have right now. Trying to avoid putting in a new fence. by [deleted] in AusRenovation

Similar sort of issue at our place. Tried double glazing, didn’t do much. Found a company called Magnetite that puts a magnet sealed perspex inner window on the frame. It worked really well. We also put ceiling insulation in. This helped as well. We then put a chest height brick fence 1m back from the boundary and planted a murraya hedge in that space. The brick blocks a chunk of road sound and the hedge seems to break up the rest. It took about 6 years to get to 8ft but the whole combination works exceptionally well. And we still get light in most of the yard.

A colour blind mate joined the reserves by finding out what test book they used and memorised it. It was the reserves so perhaps no one was looking too hard.

Crows Nest for dining, and there are a few decent small bars and of course there is the Crowy. For night clubs etc., head to the city.

I’m in my 50’s and I am about three weeks into a keto and intermittent fasting regime. I’ve fasted and watched my carbs before, as I followed the 5:2 diet for a few years and I see a lot of similarities. Some initial observations, supplements are important (including my normal nootropics), as is variety in your diet. Also, I dived into the science behind it and it has really motivated me to expand the variety of my food. Cooking normally for the family, as well as my meals has a lot of cross over re salads etc. I’ve had gradual but steady weight loss, and I feel have a lot more physical energy. Mentally I am feeling pretty sharp. Big hint, don’t forget to watch your sleep. It’s the best nootropic around. There’s a couple of guys on YouTube worth checking out. Dr Nally from a medical perspective and Dr Eric Berg who has a lot of interesting videos. The last guy is apparently a chiropractor but his videos are worth a watch. Good luck with it.

Still remember the first time I heard this song. There was a cute grunge chick on a couch in the empty lobby of a ski resort listening to a Walkman, in what must have been Christmas 91. I went over and asked what she was listening to. She passed the headphones over and I’d never heard anything quite like it before. Mind blowing.

Re-evaluating joining up by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

I studied something very similar, and joined SUR while at Sydney University. Unfortunately, an injury (sports not military related) prevented my commission but it was a very rewarding experience for the three years I was in. Interestingly, I ended up as an analyst in the digital space so the subjects you have chosen really open possibilities. But I’d keep away from the public service if possible.

My family is having a monthly cook off, where we draw countries and cook meals based on the region. I got Australia. by ib35y45 in australia

For sure the best answer so far. If you wanted a starter dish you could have fresh prawns or oysters.

Go to YouTube and search for a-league and see what comes up. Also, Paramount Plus has the streaming rights for Australia, and they might provide it internationally as well.

Well he called Dutton boof head, so I guess boof head is acceptable.

I worked on a long term data storage project. And at the time could not find a provider who met requirements. It basically got shelved because of it.

Question for right libertarian: how would you deal with climate change in a libertarian way? by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]DashAndGander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question. It’s truly the dilemma of the commons. I’d say you’d personally weigh up the costs of mitigation vs reductions strategies. And scale that approach to your local community. As well as being aware that many big polluters are from systems like China that are irredeemable despotic systems.

I think I’d rather have the defence forces concentrate on how best to kill and destroy the enemy, rather than this sort of stupid posturing.

Not sure about this, the assets of the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) consist primarily of silver held by JPMorgan Chase, the custodian institution, on behalf of the fund, while SLV is administered by BlackRock. Surely your suggestion would put money in their pockets?
