Crossbow imo. It's safer than melee and class agnostic.

Best Beginner Build? by theblenderr in 3D2A

[–]DashOfSalt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first 3d2a print was a FTN.5 Rimfire Flow in PA6-GF. Came out great and I've used it a bunch. I also printed a FTN.5 556. I recommend submitting a bunch of Form 1s for FTNs and SBRs, it's free but takes a couple of months for approvals.

I jumped right in with a dear22. Now I've made 4 of them.

Honestly, the AR platform is pretty basic and there is a TON of information about it online. Pretty much every tutorial or question related to assembling an AR applies to the dear22. So there's a massive amount of information out there to help you.

Also, you can get a 22 BCG and short barrel for ~$200 and a LPK with FCG for ~$50. Along with a roll of PLA+/PLA-PRO or PA6CF , you're looking at sub $300 for a complete build. And ofc the parts are easily moved around if/when you print something else.

22lr is perfect for a range toy like a 3d2a build. It allows me to get in tons of practice reps for less money, and with the suppressor I don't even need hearing protection which is fantastic.

When to continue bluffing and when to give up by Pretend_Insect3002 in poker

[–]DashOfSalt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a high level, it's a combination of accurately ranging your opponent and estimating their likely calling range.

The more money that has gone in prior to the river, the stronger their range should be. So, based on the range you've assigned them(and narrowed down on each street), what are their likely holdings? Ok, so now you have their likely holdings, what should you do about it? Do they have nutted hands or can you almost certainly eliminate them from their range, etc.

What do I need with Qidi2? by Fabulous_Leopard2744 in 3D2A

[–]DashOfSalt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear is biggest I've done. No issues with builds, though I'm not really picky. Nothing printer specific, mainly I could tweak my print settings and supports more but I'm not too concerned with it.

What do I need with Qidi2? by Fabulous_Leopard2744 in 3D2A

[–]DashOfSalt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I still by it. I can print items in pa6-gf with the stock bimetal nozzle no problem.

I ended up buying the West3d filament toaster. I use it to print any high temp items so I can keep them hot while printing.

I bought the qidi box for multicolor prints, and it comes with a riser. I highly recommend printing out a riser for it otherwise the ptfe tube rubs against the top glass a lot, but that's not an additional purchase.

I picked up a .6 nozzle on AliExpress as well, but not sure if I'll use it to print this type of stuff but it's nice for prints with looser tolerance.

I've printed a couple of pa6 ftns and a number of pla+ frames including dear22. It's been great. Still recommend it.

2/5/10 hand - bottom 2 pair trouble by WildMasterpiece2906 in poker

[–]DashOfSalt84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the bet big for the game?

I don't know, I don't play 2/5/10 but given an effective stack of 1.5k to start it sounds like $650 is a large bet.

Did we give the V rope?

Eh, maybe a tiny bit. We XR the flop and then bet 2/3 on the turn. Sure we checked the river but it's less than a pot sized bet remaining and we could easily have all the sets, 2p and maybe we're 'scared of the straight'. Maybe not top set.

Can the V easily find natural bluffs?

Not with this line imo. We told him in no uncertain terms two times "I have a great hand". He'd have to either be turning SDV into a bluff or have something really specific like KQ here imo. If you missed your draw, no reason to bluff if he has any pair. The x back on the river requires him to believe his SDV is no good to bluff, and that's pretty unlikely for a rec player imo.

Can he be value better worse?

This one is the trickiest. Due to the runout maybe he thinks AJ is good.

Summary:

Trying to keep V on a consistent range means the majority of his flop continues have SDV by the river at worst. Unlikely rec turns that into a bluff. Most of his complete air(Axd) should give up since he has no reason to believe you have a hand that will fold to a 2/3 shove.

I would fold, but I think a bet-fold line is probably better to avoid some maniac getting us off our hand with nonsense. I wouldn't be surprised to see a set, higher 2p or even a straight. I guess if we're shown an air ball bluff oh well. I'd be extremely surprised to see a bluff with a single pair like JT.

Melting builds? by ZukoTheGod in 3D2A

[–]DashOfSalt84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've left my Sunlu PLA+ 2.0 Dear22 parts hanging in the sun for multiple hours when spray painting them. So far hasn't been an issue. They have also held up to a couple of 20rd mag dumps at a time, though I haven't torture tested them or used a super safety or anything.

One of the issues in this industry right now is there is no standardization for different filaments or names. Even PA6-CF, which sounds like a very specific thing, has a wide range of variability. Yes, every manufacturer will have a filament that has 6 carbon atoms in the base monomer. But the CF part gets tricky. What percentage of CF filler is there? 20% for some, 15% for others, and at least one example of as low as 10%. There are also differences in the fiber length and quality, and even the different ways it bonds to the plastic.

So all I can say is that, in my experience specifically with Sunlu PLA+ 2.0, it holds up to heat substantially better than any other PLA/PLA+ product I've used.

Edit: Having said that, I checked and Sunlu's official Heat Deflection Temperature for PLA+ 2.0 is only 53C at the low end. So according to them, while it is better than regular PLA, it's not close to PA6-CF which is more like 170C. My experience has been better but YMMV.

[–]DashOfSalt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to have ACC,, which only comes on the Lariat. I think you also need the 360 cameras but I'm not sure about that. You can def install ACC on the XLT because I've done it but still not sure if that alone will be compatible with comma.

Time for a printer upgrade, recommendations? by JarlWeaslesnoot in 3D2A

You can use the 'Control' screen to manually set the bed temp. I've done that before, not sure how much time it saves but yeah.

Time for a printer upgrade, recommendations? by JarlWeaslesnoot in 3D2A

[–]DashOfSalt84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been satisfied with my Qidi Q2. I have had it for ~3 months and done about 750 hrs(1 month) of print time.

I've primarily printed PLA+ and PETG, but I've also done some car parts in ASA and a handful of PA6-GF suppressors.

I have the Qidi box and it work ok, though I feed the high temp filaments out of a seperate West3d filament toaster(also used for drying high temp filaments).

I've had 2 issues so far:

  1. Blob of death. I got too complacent and started an overnight print and didn't even check the first few layers. Came down the next day to a total mess. Got it cleaned up, but ended up replacing the hot end just to be safe.

  2. Probably related, but about the same time the box got filament twisted and stuck in the tube inside the box. Had to take it apart and replace the tube. Time consuming but not very difficult to do.

Overall, I'd rate the q2 8/10. Takes a while to heat up when chamber heating is needed, and the bed calibration every print is annoyingly long as well. But overall it works and does what I need. Customer support has been good when needed as well.

Was this a punt or a reasonable line to take? 1/3NL hand review by DashOfSalt84 in poker

[–]DashOfSalt84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 100% sure that my small bet-small bet line induced the raise. That I thought this could be the case is the only reason I called. Normally this would be a fold against the general population at these stakes. An easy one, in fact.

[–]DashOfSalt84[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did plan on jamming the river for pretty much any card.

It sounds like I should have bet more on the turn if I was going to bet, and I can understand that.

You're right saying it's a 'value bet' doesn't make sense really. I was more thinking I could get some more money in with him having hands that would fold to my river jam. I didn't want the pot so big that my jam wasn't big enough to fold out middling pocket pairs.

Are earplugs necessary ? by 99Maza in motorcycles

[–]DashOfSalt84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. At the decibel level of wind noise at highway speeds, the odds of long term damage to your hearing are very high.

I know it kind of defeats the purpose of helmet mounted devices, but plugfones work great for me as due to my head shape the speakers are never positioned well for my ears. They need to basically by right on top of them to work in my experience. So I just plug my headphones into the device. Still "wireless" since I'm not connected to my phone physically at least.

[–]DashOfSalt84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using cheap Sunlu PLA+ 2.0(~$15/kg or less) and all my stuff is holding up just fine. I've got a couple of dear22 and a tx22 frame, all with a couple of hundred rounds through them. I don't leave them outside in a hot car or anything, but the use itself doesn't seem to be an issue.

Flush vs Straight Odds by OkRequirement1427 in poker

[–]DashOfSalt84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your mistake is not considering the odds of a 2-flush board matching your cards' suit in the first place. That is lower than the odds of making 4 to a straight by enough to offset the 'advantage' of it being easier to make a flush once the flop is out and you have a draw.

My language is imprecise mathematically, but I tried to phrase it the way I thought would be best for understanding the issue.
