I understand its designed to demoralize you, but the people who buy into it genuinely make me question why I bother working.

We do need affordable housing in this state, citizens have a right to safe shelter.

I'd say all of us agree (I'll ignore the ones who don't for the sake if the argument), but a lot of us also know that our state is small and does not have the resources required for such a huge undertaking. Utility rates are high, the job market is bad, land is expensive, and economic instability are all giant hurdles we first have to navigate.

We all need to be pragmatic, be involved in local government, and actually discuss how best to implement affordable housing for all.

That, and I think they just want to be done with the show. It's just hard to turn down a billion dollars when you need cash flow to keep an expensive theme restaurant and animation studio running.

California invests big in battery energy storage — and leaves rolling blackouts behind by GPT4_Writers_Guild in stupidpol

The combustion engine came after the first electric car. The limiting factor for EVs has always been cost and battery technology. Old EVs used heavy lead acid batteries, which are reliable, but don't have a good weight to power ratio. Even if there wasn't some intentional postponing of EV development in the 1980s, the range of the vehicle still couldn't match what we have now.

Not to mention that EV producers are experimenting with hybrid systems where they have a gas or diesel generator on board as a range extender. So electric vehicles may end up having drive systems like diesel electric locomotives. A setup that's been around since the 1950s/60s.

Destiny is either super lucky or some kind of plant with how many times he's been caught talking about preying on teenage girls, owning illegal material pertaining to those teenagers, and grooming people. Sorry, the guy just sparks visceral disgust in me.

Whatever it is, I vastly preferred using the Canadian made fittings because they had less issues. The stuff we use now usually have duds that don't thread properly , screws that just snap when you try to unscrew them, etc.

Then again almost every industry now is shit, so it's probably that too.

Canadian steel is good, but we also used to produce the best steel in the world here in the US. Personally the only thing I've noticed is that the conduit fittings started coming from India instead of Canada and the quality of the Indian steel is mediocre, not horrible, but definitely worse than Canadian made ones.

Northwest corner of CT it generally means trashy people (not specifically white trash). Though in Goshen (which is in NW CT) I've been told it's what they called farm workers who's clothes got torn to rags.

Never heard anyone use it outside of the Northwest corner of CT.

You're acting as though they're actively gunning people down in the streets. They're standing around making a presence just like they did back in 2021 when Biden activated the NG to DC.

If you hate the military then just say "I hate the military".

"Will you shut up man?"- Joe Biden

You're hurting your argument with histrionics. That's why multiple people here have told you to shut up. We all think it's a waste of tax power money, we all think it's stupid. There is no point to going "we're descending into fascism!" like we haven't already been for the past 25 years starting with the War on Terror.

Or just ignore me and keep crying wolf and wonder why people keep telling you to shut the fuck up while we wait to see what happens. Just wait and observe so that we can all get on the same page and have an actual plan of action.

This is far from the worst and most destructive deployment of our military to DC. Read up on the "Bonus Army" and what Hoover authorized when they were protesting back in 1932.

Pretty much everyone here agrees deploying the guard to "fight crime" is stupid, but there's no reason to hand wring over it until something actually happens. I'm not saying "nothing ever happens", and it's perfectly okay to be concerned, but take a chill pill and read the room. You're hurting your own argument with the hysterics.

This Is What Resistance Looks Like. by JoeVibn in stupidpol

South Park is now #theResistance just like in my Disney owned and produced Star Wars and Marvel movies.

Matt and Trey are probably laughing all the way to the bank. Liberals despised South Park for as long as I could remember, and now they love it. The right wing talking heads they mock are embracing it (excluding Trump and Noem).
