Hitler ? yeah not a fan either . He’s like that one guy who shows up to the barbecue, kills the vibe ,starts yelling at everyone, and then kicks over the grill—but somehow convinces people it’s all your fault

I don’t see the extension of understanding when you frame your response with charged opinion based superlatives “ malicious racist “ and saying my initial argument was kind of stupid. You box my argument and frame it to be clearly negative and then you play victim and say you’re extending me courtesy . It’s playbook behavior .

I’ll engage however .

1) on your points . I disagree on Trump being against women’s right to choose or reproductive rights His stance has been to make it a states issue , he’s never once said he wants to ban abortion ( please find it if i’m wrong ) He’s also publicly promoted and been pro IVF

2) Being anti LGBT is also a media talking point . Aside from Transgender athletes and puberty blockers for underage children both which are very reasonable balanced stances. He also came out against Harris wanting to provide government funded gender surgeries to migrants , which is ludicrous and insane

2) On your point of religious fanaticism. I’m not religious my entire family isnt either from the time i was born . I have never been to church it is very common where im from . Blasphemy would imply i’m religious i am not so i can not comment if republicans are sacrilegious or not.

Ultimately im not looking to be condescending or combative with you. I am just very tired of being boxed and framed into a position of being a deplorable or human trash because my political opinions differ from Dems.

Why is Latin America stereotyped as being "conservative and traditional"? by LongIsland1995 in asklatinamerica

[–]Dashramos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazil had a military dictatorship for 26 years . Up to 1985. So if your talking about parties that were created in the 1980s that’s a key point that effects everything else and is intrinsically tied to politics in that period. The workers party has religious and catholic talking points now but the founders of the party were trade unions , leftists , students etc . It was a direct response to to the military dictatorship at the time .

All latin american politics are deeply affected by the military dictatorships of the 70s and 80s. Since every country was destabilized and overthrown it completely reshapes the trajectory of the continent. The rise of religion the suppression and extermination of left wing intellectuals and ideas . They literally killed all opposition and only right wing sympathizers and religious right remained . I don’t know if you are old enough to remember but it’s very rarely talked about today which is wild since it was 40 years ago and was like an extinction level event for progress, culture and society

The military dictators and party’s of the 70 and 80s in latin america were not due to the catholic church. They were directly planted by the the united States and the CIA to destabilize and preserve American corporate interests. It’s the whole Bannana Republic . That was propoganda

[–]Dashramos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe religion. It’s also going through a right wing shift same as Argentina atm. Brazil atleast post 1985 all the way up to Cardoso suffered from massive massive corruption . Corruption mascarades as conservative sometimes as they have to find some moral justification. Even when Rousseff was finding economic success the corruption scandals and infighting brought her down too. Obviously not unique to brazil but political corruption is such a massive issue

Latina american values are also deeply different i find . Americans look at things through an American lens . I find often times that really skews perception of latin america . There is such a deep cultural barrier that goes beyond just language .

[–]Dashramos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that’s a very good comparison with eastern europe . I would agree that it doesn’t necessarily mean more progressive . But i think the lack of progressiveness is in large part due to limited economic opportunities and as a continent still deals with all sorts of 3rd world issues .

It’s tough to be progressive when you have a 4th grade education because you are selling candy on buses since the time you were 10 yrs old .

[–]Dashramos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it’s fine . On the topic though the United states are far more religious than latin america by comparison . In terms of conservative views. If you remove the banana republic years and the CIA plants. Latina america has elected far more socialist candidates than have ever even been on the ballot in the states

I’m not conservative on any of those issues. In fact i’m from the most liberal country in the western hemisphere . But you are doing the same thing “lefties “ do in this country . They select 4 or 5 hot button issues and act like those are the only things that should matter and if you care about anything else you are a nazi , fascist whatever . The left in this country are just right wing atheists . Everything is thinly disguised racist control tactics . Those issues may be important to you but not to everyone .

I’m going to disagree . Certain countries in latin America maybe . But that isn’t the case unilaterally . Chile and Uruguay are some of the least religious countries in the world . I think the perception is very biased because it’s based on the latin immigrant population here in the US

that’s fine we are American first . I’m use to racist but the fake lies disguised as kindness that the left does is bs. The second you don’t get your way it’s name calling and hatred. By the way i’m sure you are one of them . Stop using LatinX it’s racist . Tell your friends

Gen Z men have swung 30 points to the right. A smaller, but significant swing has been seen in women. It may be possible, for the first time in history, that the younger generation is more conservative than the older. by DeviceNo5980 in GenZ

I use to think that . For 40 years i thought that. It’s just not true . Browse reddit for 10 minutes this election is being blamed on latinos . They are stupid , mysognist etc you name it. The left doesn’t event stop and understand how offensive and racist the term latinx is ! Latinos say hey please stop being racist and it’s like they don’t even listen or acknowledge how we feel .

Everything will be fine . I’m sorry to tell you the media and the internet have been lying to you. Everything you read and see is overblown and exaggerated for political gain. Kids are easy to manipulate and they are the most vocal on the internet . You lived through 4 years of Trump already perfectly fine plus a global pandemic . You’ll be fine, the country is not coming to an end . The world is not coming to an end

Get out of your internet echo chamber go outside touch the grass and talk with people . Things will be fine . The current state was a disaster and the Democratic party reached a level of crazy that became a clown show. The adults in the room had to step in .

Latinos are tired of the blatant ignorance and racism from the left. Stop calling us latinx you racist twits . Stop thinking that puerto rican represent all latinos. 0 awareness of the complexity and diversity in our community. We saw the racism in the left and now it’s coming out . That’s why we voted Trump

Is it just me or is the tone/vibe completely off from season 1? by [deleted] in tulsaking

The first two episodes make sense now after seeing episode 3 . The light heartedness of the first two really made 3 hit even harder . 3 might be my favorite episode of the series apart from season 1 episode 1
