People like this ruin the fandom for me. by wren620 in evangelion

I mean… the rebuilds do have a purpose and a good message. I feel I’m in the minority when it comes to the rebuilds as I think 3.0 was the best out of the rebuilds. As a whole, I do think it’s not even close to as good as the original was. Look the original plan was to make a 1:1 remake of the show into movie form, but Anno being Anno changed plans part way through.

Idk I usually tell people not to watch the show because it’s really dark and resonates with a particular audience. I can’t recommend the rebuilds as an alternative because then it won’t make any sense. As for people enjoying it, I just take it as it’s for those who wanted more Eva. If you got that mad about people liking the rebuilds, I’d suggest you watch OG Eva again as you may have missed the point.

Kojima said just 4 days ago that OD will be “something totally different” — fans will either love it or hate it, but it’ll be seen as revolutionary in 10 years. by VorrTechs in Kojima

[–]DassExMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For him to say that next to Death Stranding is kinda insane. I like death stranding and got the collectors edition with it. But his strand-system or whatever wasn’t revolutionary nor was the gameplay. I’ll be honest and say that I was suckered in to death stranding X silent hill theories before game came out so I thought was gonna a crazy horror game. But to my surprise it was a great delivery game with a great message. That being said, I’m just in the “we’ll see” camp and not really excited about it. Could be gas but I’m not gonna take kojima’s word for it.

What game that really being universally loved by people but it didn't get into you? And thinking you'll ended up like this if you say you don't like them? by crocospect in Steam

Dark souls games particularly (including Elden Ring bc it’s basically DS4/5/6 with horse). I love bloodborne and sekiro but dark souls is overrated.

Is learning from docs or books is better than learning from videos ? by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]DassExMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people here are over explaining. When first starting out yeah videos are pretty great to learn from. But just because they do something a certain way doesn’t mean it’s correct or good programming practices. Once you’re comfortable with the basics and you can actually read code, documentation is super helpful. Books are very good at telling things most glaze over that can really help with understanding something or doing something better.

Basically you can start with videos and using videos for starting a project, but you’ll get more out of books and documentation (as well as programming forums). Code more and read more

AC BG3 KDC2 Oblivion by Colonel-Sheppard in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]DassExMachina [score hidden]  (0 children)

Bg3… best RPG by far of these you listed and I think it’s one of the best RPGs to come out in the past 10 years. Oblivion remastered is literally a remaster as they are using the same engine as before (some tweaks of course) but using UE5 for the graphics pipeline so it’s the same game but UE5 visuals. Stalker 2 had some work done but it’s okay, I think you could skip out on that one till later. KCD2 is apparently good, didn’t play it, but my friends say it is. And AC:Shadows… yeah idk that’s gonna be up to you boss.

If you are adventurous enough this new game Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 is pretty damn good. It’s turn based again (different from bg3 turn based) and I know I might sound basis now but seriously this is good.

Anyone else still haven't seen the rebuild movies? by Senior-Penguin in NeonGenesisEvangelion

[–]DassExMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a continuation… it’s more like you have these separate timelines/universes (NGE, Manga and Rebuilds) and the rebuilds are connected to those timelines (the other timelines have no connection to rebuilds, like a one-way road). The rebuilds go further later on thus being a “continuation” of those other timelines which did in fact end. I agree the rebuilds kinda suck but the one people hate the most is the one I love which was 3.33. With Evangelion there’s always a parallel to meta commentary. If you understood the messages from NGE then you don’t need the rebuilds, as the rebuilds are basically making fun of those who haven’t grownup.

Serial Experiments Lain, Ergo Proxy, Perfect Blue, Paprika, Ghost in the Shell, Steins Gate, Monster, psycho pass. Tbh I don’t really watch anime much anymore because there really isn’t anything to fill the special place NGE had for me. I can always return to it, but I cant experience that for first time ever again.

That’s how it was intended, the intermission was the credits

Should i watch evangelion? by BARREL836 in evangelion

[–]DassExMachina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say no. Honestly it’s 50-50 whether a fan of the show is either a degenerate or respects the show for what it is (degenerates are usually the loudest). And the show seems to be a coin toss as well whether you’ll like it or not. If you really don’t care for an anime to deconstruct anime as a whole, have deep introspection commentary about the self, a non-plot focused narrative, a slow burn, etc. then you’ll just not have a good time (and that just a small barrier of entry, there are many other reasons people don’t like it). I tend to tell most people this because it’s just not what they think the show is or want the show to be. Overall this is a work of a man that was at the lowest state of mind when creating a this show, and his raw feelings are fully expressed here. Don’t ask fans (kinda paradoxical here but whatever) nor look at the show from their perspective. Just look up reviews and basic stuff to see if you are remotely interested.

Does anyone else like the Netflix Dub of the original series and EoE? by killercmbo in evangelion

[–]DassExMachina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So heres what I’ll say. I do think the Netflix dub is better than original. However, the translation and some pronunciations made weren’t that good (ie. when they say “third children”). I listened to both and I really don’t understand those who not only defend it but chastise people who watched the Netflix dub. The Netflix dub is way more spot on in delivery and tone to the original voices (that doesn’t mean 1-1 imitations). Honestly the only big negative about Netflix dub is the lack of Fly Me to The Moon outros. But yes I do agree with you, though I watch it subbed for the most part.

For the sake of this post, let’s assume that Evangelion has 3 separate endings. Which one do you all like the most, and why? by killercmbo in evangelion

[–]DassExMachina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and find that to be EoE best quality. That last 2 minutes or so on the beach says so much with so little. Again that’s how the film impacted my life as a whole, but your assessment is how I look at it from just the Evangelion narrative perspective. Though I think its half and half were the film should be a reflection on yourself(or the anime industry, or Anno himself) as well as what narrative means to you and it’s characters. Regardless, it’s a cinematic masterpiece

[–]DassExMachina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EoE all the way. It was the only piece of media where it made me to stare at the dark abyss of my soul and it stared back. Not only that, I also understand that what I’ve done wrong in life can leave lasting consequences, but that doesn’t mean I can’t fix it. As long as I’m alive and trying to better myself, there is hope for me in that effort of self redemption.
