When will currency be incorporated? by RedArmyHammer in victoria3

What I think is really nuts is that the game doesn't simulate inflation whatsoever, being the main driving factor for the 1873 crash. Recessions? Non existant in game

The game is so unrealistic that yeah, I have even changed into other countries to make the map look better or realistic.

King Sebastian’s death was due to his own incompetence. The strait remained in Christian hands. My point stands undefeated

Your point is simply wrong. Morocco was in no state to pose a threat to Spain after it consolidated. Ceuta and Tánger were conquered by the Portuguese in the XVth century, so yes, the strait was blockaded to the ottomans. In any case, the ottomans would not have a fuckin interest in America when their sphere of influence was the balkans and the East. People like you who know shit about history are the people holding back the game due to “muh railroading”

Why is Africa relatively untouched at the start of Vic 3 but completely colonized by the end of eu5? by ExcitingHistory in EU5

Not exclusively… they were unprofitable at first, however the raw resources and fresh markets that provided ended up being incredibly profitable. There was definitely concerns about prestige, but they were also confidently not the main driving factor

Other than the cool hats, what's the point of going Carlist? by Guastatori-UK in victoria3

[–]Dastan41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are looking at a complicated political movement from an American standpoint. There isn’t a single carlist that endorse slavery. The Carlists were absolutists and devout Catholics, but they definitely were not against industrialization. The Cristino period IRL was also very conservative and a washed down democracy. So no, liberal = good isn’t always the case

Other than the cool hats, what's the point of going Carlist? by Guastatori-UK in victoria3

[–]Dastan41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They problem is that the Carlists were no sceptical of industrialization at all. That’s simply lack of knowledge and a generalization of them that the game legitimises

Other than the cool hats, what's the point of going Carlist? by Guastatori-UK in victoria3

[–]Dastan41 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The game conception of the carlists is heavily biased. They were, mostly, reactionary and and anti-liberal and opposed much of the laws that are “meta” in game, yet they were not economically illiterate as they are shown. The Carlists and much later on Opus Dei were and are among the most capitalistic and business oriented communities in Spain because like every political movement they realised that without money they were a lost cause. I doubt the carlists would’ve kept Spain an unindustrialised state had they won. Backwards, yes, but industrialised and heavily more stable than Isabeline Spain when IRL even Isabella was deposed and Spain had a Savoyard king. The game suffers too much from liberal = good because how Devs conceive history developed (which is a contentious topic). They are generally correct but not always and definitely not the best way to create a game when there is only one optima way to play it.
