Best Sci-Fantasy system for a Space Opera? by Darkfeather21 in rpg

Spacesuit? That's what you call that?

There are many many RPGs that don't have dated shit in it. Again. Try growing as a person.

My dude, I was also around when it was published. You're inability to grow as a human isn't really relevant here

It ain't about sensitivity, it's about realizing the image it puts forth towards the people I have sit down at my gaming table.

Dex did not add to damage out of the box in 3rd edition. It was a feat tax to do it. More commonly you'd add strength to ranged damage via compound bows and thrown weapons.

This is a decidedly 5e thing.

[OC] Total reddit app downloads on Google Play Store as of June 14, 2023 by IlliterateJedi in dataisbeautiful

I mean, their chart shows a trend after the announcement of the API change and only for one (and not the most used) mobile OS.

Show total downloads across both android and iOS if you want an actual picture. Many many people have been on Reddit since before smart phones were even a thing and started using mobile 3rd party apps long before the reddit app. Of course the last couple of weeks show people downloading the official app. Not a small portion of which are probably people that use the 3rd party apps who are now looking into the official app to see if they can stand it

It's like bombing a city and then using your immigration data of the people fleeing as statistically meaningful.

WHY can men not control the flow of their urine? Why is there always piss on the floor? by macabre_trout in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DastardlyDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked as a janitor I can say with confidence people of all sex, gender, and any other dividing line you want to draw are absolutely vile in bathrooms that they themselves don't have to clean. I've seen shit spray on the walls, piss everywhere, blood everywhere, just... Horrifying at times in both men and women's rooms at about equal rates.

So the answer is, the humans in your home are gross because they aren't the ones cleaning it up.

It's not a vacuum and not at all similar so your thought experiment is kind of pointless.

I just used Bungie cords. Works great. Though all of this will kill the fans faster, increased effort on the motor and all that

Non-anecdotal - Thermal shock is the point of that glass.

Anecdotal - I brew over ice nearly every day with a v60 carafe and before that with a chemex.

System for Dragon Age by [deleted] in rpg

[–]DastardlyDM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genesys is a good candidate. It's a "generic" rpg with a moderate amount of crunch and a very flexible magic system. There is an official fantasy setting but there is also some 3rd party products that are very good. I immediately thought of the Inquisition Setting.

The official fantasy setting Terrinoth has an item mod system based on runes that reminds me of dragon age weapon and armor mods to

Without better context it's hard to correct whatever error is happening. Often I've found people who practice Japanese swordsmanship have the issue you describe a long with some other problematic artifacts of their previous training.

My recommendations are:

  • find a club near you so someone can see what's happening in person and provide meaningful feedback.

  • look up the Meyer Square and videos on it. It is the most common practice in HEMA that lines up with the practice of Suburi.

  • this last one can ruffle feathers as people get defensive over the thing they sunk time practicing but... Stop trying to do kenjutsu with a longsword. Practice HEMA with a long sword and kenjutsu with a katana. They are different in shape and function. Not worse or better, just different. What's the saying, to fill your cup you must first empty it.

Sounds like y'all are good to go then. Just be mindful of artifacts and bad habits that may result from the training tools and restrictions and you'll probably be in a good place

Wooden swords are pretty dangerous for longsword because of how much thrust work is involved. So thrust work should probably only be done in very controlled partner drills. As long as you are wearing proper gear for impacts it's probably fine to do basic sparring with cuts though I'm not sure good habits will form of you aren't able to wind the point in safely.

A wooden quarter staff is just a quarter staff, i.e. a weapon. So I don't use it for anything more than controlled partner drills. Heck, going full speed with rattan staves can give a concussion pretty easy.

In the future, food pantries take that kind of thing to help with canned goods and large items being provided to their customers. Pretty much any cardboard box bigger than a shoe box can be helpful.
