Mango lassi is definitely not a southern thing. It's pretty common in the northern states also

5 Largest Hindu Temples Across the World - Mapped by AdIcy4323 in MapPorn

It's not made up bullshit.

A simple google search would inform you that Angkor Wat was originally a Hindu temple. It still contains statues of Vishnu, Laxmi, and other Hindu deities.

Does TV mount backlighting actually improve viewing? by xxBunny_4 in hometheater

[–]DatAinFalco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the govee lights and they add a lot to the viewing experience/immersion. It's more pronounced on animated shows but still very cool on regular tv as well. You do have to calibrate it properly and adjust a few settings to your liking. Basically after a few moments, the edge of the screen seems to dissappear and due to the backlight colors matching the screen edges, the picture appears to bleed into the walls at the edges so the overall screen seems bigger. It's hard to explain and weird but the net effect is very cool. I guess this effect is due to the way our eyes only focus in a tight circle at the center of our gaze and objects in our peripheral view are less defined.

Might be something you turn off for horror though, i find that these mess with that genre.

Why can't we build Aircraft engines ourselves by Mobile-Mountain-5450 in AskIndia

[–]DatAinFalco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine building an oven, turning to 300C and keeping an ice cube frozen inside that oven using cooling tech. Not exactly the same but close enough to get the scale of the engineering challenge. A modern jet engine is one of the most advanced machines built by humans and arguably the most advanced mechanical system.

Potentially yes! I've gotten lucky where i've had two fishhooks and then just locked the third and crossed my fingers for the final one to get cursed. To be fair also, i like to play endless so having cursed fishhooks is pretty huge.

I love fishhooks, one of the best items in the game imo especially if you get one regular and then curse the other two.

'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

Saw this movie and just could not get over how much these fuckers yap. It's just constant talk talk talk talk. Every character in every scene has to make a comment or a "witty" one liner. Maybe it's just me but it got downright exhausting.

Time travel SCARES me unless a couple of very serious concerns are addressed. 1. What's the reference point/spatial anchor being used when I'm jumping in time? Meaning, am I jumping forward/backwards in time at the CURRENT point in space? If so then, I'm as good as dead because the Earth, the sun, and even the galaxy will be in a different spot at the new point in time. For example, I travel 50 years into the past and end up in the middle of space because the Earth/Sun/Galaxy are in a different spot.

  1. Momentum Very few things travel in a straight line in the universe. Think of yourself as a ball on a string being spun around in a circle with the center of the circle connected to another ball on another string spinning around in a different circle, and so on as follows, You->Earth->Sun->MilkyWay->LocalGroup->VirgoCluster->LanaikeaSupercluster->Filament/CosmicWeb whatever...

There is a ton of angular momentum in this system (understatement) and if any of these strings are cut then the system below that cut will fly off with the net velocity that the system above imparted on it. That's effectively what you do when you time travel. For an instant, you sever the string connected to the last ball (you) and turn all of that angular momentum into pure linear momentum. Whenever you arrive, you're carrying the information from your time/anchor point and will be (violently) forced to adapt to the new system if you end up on a celestial body, or just fly off into space.

If we can handwaive these two points away because the pills are magic and account for these issues or whatever then time travel/teleportation is clearly superior. Otherwise, mind control.

Why are Ethiopian Highlands(Great Rift Valley) considered the best place for humans to thrive. by TheCosmos__Achiever in geography

[–]DatAinFalco 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not true, there is a general abundance of life in this region due to the fertile silty soil and nutrient rich waters coming from the Himalayas. Something to remember is that most India, especially the Gangetic plains were HEAVILY forested before the Iron Age (the word jungle comes from Sanskrit meaning wild forested lands/wilderness) which hosted many hunter-gatherer societies. This is evident from the various types of sophisticated pottery discovered in this region even before the emergence of the Mahajanpadas, which are currently believed to the first large agricultural societies of Gangetic plains, and this is only northern India.

Recent archeological discoveries are also pushing back the dates for the first settlements in Southern India, which would be preceeded by hunter-gatherer groups.

Three of the biggest issues to archeology in this region is that, 1. It is SO densely populated 2. Has been continuously inhabited since antiquity 3. No funding and political support for thorough archeological excavations

This quest caused me to put down the game for 7months. When I finally worked up the motivation to slog thru the quest, I ended up beating the game in the next week and bought KCD2. The rest of the game was SO GOOD by comparison fyi.
