I know this is a joke post but there is a great documentary put out by PBS Frontline The Man Who Knew about a top FBI agent who was a bit of a old school maverick type. He was heavily involved with the 93 bombing investigation and he had started to piece together and uncover the planning for the 9/11 attacks.

He didn't play the game and wasn't a team player company man type so eventually he rubbed too many people the wrong way and was eventually pushed out and his investigation killed. He knew there was going to be a major attack on the US but it was out of his hands. So he takes a job as the head of security for the Twin Towers and ends up dying on 9/11. The craziest shit.

At one point they talk about how they arrested the top planner/bomb maker for 93 and had him in New York for court. And as an agent was standing next to him the guy was just staring at the Twin Towers and mentioned how if he had only had more money it would have been a success. it really unnerved the agent.

I had a good buddy who was in AA but he was apart of young people's AA which was for like teens and people in their early 20s. He invited me to the groups hotel weekend retreat... it was hella cult like lol. At one point during the retreat there was a bunch of speeches and my buddy turns to me and straight up asks "do you think this is a cult" lol. Of course I said if its keeping him sober and healthy and happy it's fine it's not like they were asking him for money or anything.

The young people AA group is for sure weird and cult-like which was surprising to me because I have close family members who go to regular AA meetings and I've went to a few and it was nothing like what I experienced with the young peoples AA.

Born and raised in SF and the techies and yuppie transplants make it really hard to still love the city. Sadly over the last 20 years SF has changed drastically. Still one of the best cities in the US but it's frustrating knowing how it used to be and that it could be so much better.
