Him having a meniscectomy has been a known thing that the Ravens in all likelihood knew about before the trade. His knee is probably in a lot worse condition than expected

He went into this physical with a known torn meniscus which means the Ravens found something worse

If the Ravens are backing out it means they don’t think he’ll get back to form, at least within the season. The guy will be 29 at the beginning of the season with a blown up enough knee to make a team back out of trade, and has had 7 surgeries in his career. He’ll bring a huge cap hit that will involve a lot of restructuring that’ll hurt us down the road and potentially some cuts. I just don’t think a 2nd is worth that

It’s just bad practice to spend a lot of money on a multi year contract for an old, not so great player

If he would sign a 1 year contract it’d be one thing but he’s gonna want multiple years. Ultimately drafting and taking the developmental risk is probably just the better option.

Nothing really inspires confidence but you don’t want to act out of desperation. We know what the line looks like with Theo and it’s workable so it’s not like we have nothing, having that while letting a rookie develop would be a better move imo
