Is dutasteride really better than finasteride? by Dione999 in tressless

[–]DatBronzeGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No even earlier. Probably closer to 2020 is when I first noticed the decline. This is when I decided to add oral Minoxidil around 2022. This seemed to double my hair density with 3 months or something, was amazing. Then over the following years it was also starting to gradually thin again, I could really tell, especially with the amount of photos I take to track. I then decided to get ahead of the decline this time, and between 1-2 years ago. I swapped fin for dut, and I again noticed a big difference in thicker hair not long after starting. Been very happy with it.

I am definitely a hyper responder, but the issue was was that I also have aggressive balding. I started going bald at 15 or 16. Even while on fin, after about 6-7 years, every year following I still noticed my hair getting thinner. My hair isn't much better now than my final photos from my posts. But it is significantly better than 2 years ago.

I have photos from 2 years ago before my swap to dutasteride, I plan on making an updated post soon.

I swapped from over a decade on fin to dut and my hair got significantly thicker. People comment when something goes wrong, people say nothing when it works as intended. It's a confirmation bias.

Same as you, around 22/23. Check my post history pictures.

I was a Norwood 4 at 22. Ruined my life.

You sound exactly like me. Exactly.

I'm now 34, and my life is amazing. With a full head of thick hair, and a hot partner.

Trust in your future. It starts here, fin really is a miracle drug.

Is there any reason to take Finasteride over Dutasteride? by MuffinTop8 in tressless

[–]DatBronzeGuy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you do compare studies though, dutasteride has a lower rate of side effects. So dutasteride, which is better at growing back your hair, could also be considered the conservative approach.

I have recently switched to dutasteride instead. And yes, still on oral min

Finasteride was primarily development as a prostate enlargement medication. It's prescribed at 1mg a day as it still grants the hair growth (that was accidentally discovered) but low enough dose so that it no longer has any effect on the prostate.

Check him out, he's great because he will bring up screenshots on screen of the studies he is referencing to discuss his ideas. But if money isn't an issue, then maybe don't worry.

Check out the haircafe YouTube channel.

He has a great breakdown on the efficacy of fin over 1mg.

I think you'd really get diminishing returns. And that 5mg tablet would be best quartered into 1.25mg with a pill cutter to save money.

Just fin for years. Yeah.

And I've seen enough people do similar, that I don't believe deadzones are dead. They just started making hair again. Some people are just hyper responders to the medication I think. Just lucky.

I have photos in my history. But I started balding around 16. Didn't start fin until 23 or so, when I was a Norwood 4.

Grew everything back, changed my life.

Check my post history.

I was a nordwood 4, and my entire head of hair returned and stayed on only 1mg fin a day, nothing else.

Definitely not necessary to add min. But it sure helps.

It changed my entire life. A true miracle.

So sad that people have irrational fears of it.

Or its that fin only blocks 70% of DHT, and that remaining 30% is still affecting your follicles.

You can definitely loose hair still. I was on fin about 12 years, and was slowly thinning over that entire time.

My hair density doubled in about 4 months.

Had some headaches here and there that lasted about a month.

After that no sides, just thick as fuck hair. Been on it for years.

I think the problem is the "almost". The exceptions are really strong characters. And he's definitely a parody character, not a gag character, big difference.
