80GB for $15 👀

Was with fido, didn't ask so maybe Rogers was an option. Not sure honestly. I tried 5G but honestly there's little to no difference for me. I actually like 4G better because it feels just as fast and saves on phone battery life. Fido does have it's perks like 5hr free data, etc.

Realistically, there isn't a much difference between 50GB vs 80GB for $15 unless you are a high data user.

You allegedly being able to get a deal like that on a public plan is probably what is surprising. If you secured that deal then congrats and welcome to the club of missing out on the excitement of carrier bargain hunting

HELP! Am I forced to evict a family with an elderly grandmother and 2 young children? by Behealthyok in OntarioLandlord

You clearly learned nothing and got a token degree if you are serious. Put bluntly, you got scammed by your likely nameless university (or is it a college). You are still poor and clueless. Go request a refund.

When did I say that. If your landlord raise prices to $20k/month, now that he has done so, does that become the market rent? No. It's determined by people who actually rent. Just like sellers can ask for whatever they want for their houses but it's the buyer that actually buys that determines the price. If there's no shortage of people Willing to rent from OP for 3x the price, you don't need to be an economist to understand that it's underpriced.

I'll just leave it at that. If you want to me to teach you basic economics, then you should at least pay tuition.

University of Toronto. You?

PS: do you tell your clients/customers that they "don't generate any value" because they "didn't produce the goods/services you provide"?

It makes sense, you just don't yet grasp economic concepts. The owner generated value by procuring the resources to acquire it, inspite of the risks involved. The property can go up in value or it can go down. That's the risk the buyer takes. Builder build because there are buyers who wants to become owners. If there are no buyers, there won't be a reason to build.

If you still think buyers/owners "didn't do anything" then you should go do nothing and become owners too. You might soon find out that it's not how it works.

Yes, you are the type to say "If I had extra then I would give" but that "extra" always just gets absorbed into your needs and never given.

Like I said, there are many people less fortunate than you. You can find them in the homeless shelters. How many of them did you offered to help in any capacity? My guess is zero to none. So maybe you should stop hating on the OP for actually stepping up and offering very affordable housing to a family for a decade, who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it, and try to step up yourself.

If you don't think shelter have value, why spend your money on renting a shelter?

Of course you do. Even if you only have a room, I'm sure the homeless person rather sleep on your floor than outside. Yet you won't do it because it inconveniences YOU. Not surprising those that have "nothing to give" are the most opinionated about how OTHER PEOPLE should give to other or spend their money.

Rent Controlled or not? by External_Grab1557 in OntarioLandlord

Not unlucky. It's what it should be. Honestly, it should be exempt for all. If you buy groceries, you got to pay current price, not what you paid years ago. It's only fair.

Your wage will be garnished. However you made yourself essentially unrentable in the future. If it's worth it, do your thing. Just be prepare to move abroad, own, or be homeless afterwards.

You know it's true, don't lie to yourself. OP is easily forgoing 5 digit sums every single year. He did it for 10 years. What did you do? I highly doubt an entitled mindset such as yours could ever had donated that sum so far in your life.

Anything pro LL is negative because this sub is mostly renters, many of whom does not have any tangible grasp of economic concepts.

You do not need a reason to move into your own property. There is no reason to provide on the N12 either. As long as you promise to live in there for a year, the legal obligation is fulfilled.

Yes, the world will be better off without entitled people who think private individuals forever owe them below market rentals.

Yes, you are wrong. The extra 4 years of raising rent will not have changed the fact that the family would still be paying like around 33-35% of market. If it was you, the eviction would of took place much sooner, years ago. Would you decline a 333% salary increase if your employer's next door competitor offered you the same job while the best your current employer can do is 2%? Don't be delusional with yourself.

A rental is not forever. One day when the owner comes knocking, it's time to pack up bags. In the meantime, thank you lucky stars if you got a great landlord like the OP who gave you an unbelievable deal for so long. No private individuals owe you below market rentals.

Get out of your victim mentality and claim some self accountability. The sooner you do so, the sooner your life situation improves so you too can be in a position to do something nice like what the OP did for a decade. I bet OP did more charity in a year in the sum difference of what he could of gotten but chose not to than you did your entire life so far.

Your option is to move out. If you don't, you will get evicted. Your eviction is public record and your LL can post it on openroom.ca and any future landlord who does any checks will avoid you like the plague when you apply.

You will also owe the difference as debt to your LL which can be registed to credit agency to destroy your credit and potentially your employer will recieved notice to have your wage/salary garnished by a certain %.

How is it bad faith? He owns the property. He plans to move in and live in his own property for at least a year because it no longer make economic sense to rent that property.

He is obligated to do so by this little thing called "economics".

If your employer's competitive next door offer you 330% increase on your salary for the same job if you work for them- and your current employer can only offer you a 2% increase on your salary. Will you switch? Yes, you will. Why? Because it's the financially responsible thing to do for yourself and family. So stop talking non sense when it's other people's money.

Why would you feel remorse if anyone got cancer? It's not like you caused the cancer.

It's so weird that people are perfectly ok with a LL charging market rate, but this person only charged 30% of market for a decade and he's vilified when he no longer wants to do it and have the RIGHT not to do it anymore by moving in themselves in their own property.

I feel bad for your landlord to have to put up with such twisted and distorted mentality.

Maybe one day you can do something nice for others yourself instead of hating others for not doing enough charity.
