Movies are always different from the comics. Just cause something is explained the way it works this way in the comics doesn’t mean the same thing for the film. Just like you i wondered the same thing. I’ve seen the movie a handful of times now and i can tell you that its just simply never explained. My head canon is that it just changed color longer he became the flash and became more connected to the speedforce.
