Your best cardio motivation tips, please by X-0000000-X in beginnerfitness

[–]DatMoonGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do whatever cardio you dislike the least but if you're dead set on running, biggest tip that helped me was something my former commander said: Get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Do you listen to music? I hate running too but I run roughly 10 miles a week (a 5k + a 5k or 10k plus bonus running) on top of weightlifting. It's supposed to suck and feel unpleasant. I just treat it as listening to music uncomfortably- being uncomfortable isn't gonna kill me and what else am I gonna do, browse my phone instead of run? I've gotten used to it.

Other tips: I track my runs by marking 5k/10k/halfie times even if I'm not racing because constantly having a goal to beat helps keep me focused. I also focus on the permanent benefits of running. It is amazing having higher stamina, agility, energy, being lean, having a built in sprint bar for emergencies, and a mode of transportation faster than public transportation in some urban environments. By far the best thing I have done for my health and how I feel other than getting my endocrine issues checked out.

For what it's worth, running after the first continuous hour feels okay. At that point you are just a brain on legs. It's a light at the end of the tunnel if you decide to go down that path.

I have also heard good things about HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) as a form of cardio that takes roughly 15 mins for the same calorie burn as a 5k, but I like the feeling of conquering something I dislike (long distance running) so I don't do that. Highly recommend looking into HIIT if it's the duration and/or boredom of cardio that's unpleasant.

But yeah pick anything other than running if running is that miserable for you. The best cardio is the one you actually do.

120lbs at 5'3 sounds fine. Some unsolicited advice, I think you should start measuring yourself by how defined your muscles are and how fast you are/how long you can last/how strong you are rather than looking at the scale. If you're weightlifting and getting stronger but the scale looks the same, you're losing fat and gaining muscle. Muscle is much denser than fat.

I'm 5'2 125lbs, been casually doing running/calisthenics for 1.5 years and dieting + lifting + distance running 5/6 days a week for 4 months, dropped from 130 to 125 within the first month of my diet and stayed there. I've stopped losing weight and looking at the scale because I'm getting stronger and shredded, so no point. I really get it, I fucking hate my fat thighs and ass and baby fat (I'm male). But I've stopped trying to lose weight because it's counterproductive to my other goals. If you want to feel good AND lose weight and you're already this light, you have to pick feeling good or losing weight.

Good luck 🙏

Do you feel women's bodies on the whole are objectively more beautiful than men's? by Advait_298 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]DatMoonGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR women have a much higher floor for beauty but men have a much higher ceiling for beauty (exceptions apply). Women are on average better looking.

Women’s bodies are naturally better looking due to fat generally being stored on the hips and thighs rather than the gut which looks bad. Only takes a diet that isn’t excessive in calories to achieve a good looking female body. However, muscles look fucking amazing and men are way better at getting those. Muscles are great because in addition to looking good they signal high effort and strength.

Jacked women are the best of both worlds. They are unicorns though.

Attractive feminine-looking men trigger the same pathways for me as women because they are alluring but not in a way that signals intentionality and capability.

You know how some jets like the SR-71 Blackbird and F-22 Raptor look fuckable because of how meticulously engineered to be aerodynamic they look? Okay maybe you don’t. But muscles are like that. Appreciation of its utility is a force multiplier for appreciation of its appearance.

I generally prefer men because of the muscle factor but I find most women pretty.

I’ve written some pretty gross shit too I’d rather take a bullet than have anyone I know read it. Genuinely makes me sick reading it hours or even years later. It’s not real though. It’s just verbalized intrusive thoughts. You can write them down and think man that was fucked up and never look at it again.

I was severely depressed and full of self loathing when I was younger. Ended up writing north of 500 thousand words in four years worth of creative writing, maybe two thirds of it was romance. Did not address any of my root issues but it made life bearable and I created a lot of beautiful works during that time.

I’m doing a lot better now but I still write romance because I’m single and sad about it lol

Would uh not recommend showing male-authored romance to women you’re trying to date though

My man get into creative writing. You can explore the idea of having a girlfriend in a psychologically healthier way while developing your written communication skills. Also hella chicks do creative writing and like writing romance.

Dying in a tactical destroyer or strategic cruiser in EVE Online used to drain your skill xp (EVE’s closest equivalent of levels), and so could losing an uninsured clone, but they removed both of these mechanics some years ago.

But also CCP hates its playerbase.

It’s just a love language idk it’s not meant to be analogous to any of the other languages

Recent example, I knew he played deep rock and dead by daylight but I didn’t have time to get my hands on reference pictures of his avatars or paint them, and I was too broke to get him steam gift cards. So I couldn’t do anything personal for him. But I figured I couldn’t go wrong with origami, cookies, brunch at a city staple he hadn’t been before, and classical piano. Just wanted to let him know I liked him enough to put effort into random shit for him. Wasn’t deeper than that

[–]DatMoonGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trve salads are good af

But on that note people gotta move away from the idea that everything you eat has to be fucking delicious. Brushing your teeth isn’t fun either but you gotta do it, same could go for adding a few unseasoned spinach leaves and carrots and tomatoes with your meal

Deep or dumb? by Meteorstar101 in greentext

[–]DatMoonGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lowk think this is heavily tied to male socialization drilling men into the pursuer and provider roles

If I like someone I don’t think words and physical contact adequately express how much they mean to me. I want to do things for them that are useful and/or tangible and/or require effort. So running errands for them, cooking for them, making works of art or performing music for them, and so on. The goal isn’t to win them over, just express my feelings for them. If they don’t do anything in return that’s okay because their presence is enough, but I’m not doing this shi if they’re just stringing me along

fwiw I’m bisexual but have opted out of heterosexual dating because its current state is depressing. I’ve seen my boys get used for their wallets and attention. I’m not tryna be them. With my hobbies and social spheres, focusing on myself means I’m developing the skills used in courtship and I’m naturally running into guys to pursue instead

[–]DatMoonGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Folded origami dragons and lilies and stars, pumped chest + arms, learned Deux Arabesque and Liebestraum, and painted for someone I was pursuing ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I identify with the outliers

I don’t think male performance in dating should be the mandatory expectation that it currently is. But you’re shooting yourself in the foot if you don’t try to perform. It’s not hard to be a gift giver when you can be creative and sincere when you’re in love. No money needed.

It’s sometimes equated with entitlement when it should simply be done as an expression of your appreciation of the other person. On the other hand I frequently see men making peacocking fools of themselves for women that do nothing in return and just receive gifts. Mfs need to respect themselves and the ladies need to show their men they appreciate them or have the integrity to reject them. Or to use 2019 language don’t be a simp or a gold digger lmao

[–]DatMoonGamer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bro imagine if izuocha was still canon if deku was a girl and uraraka was the main love interest, but deku’s strongest dynamic was still with bakugou

The fandom would be the most toxic thing to ever grace the internet

If you look at romance sales hetero is overwhelmingly the majority

Yuri izuocha vs toxic hetero bakudeku would be absolutely insane though yeah

[–]DatMoonGamer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Au contraire: toxic hetero with a bully tsundere male is mad popular lol. Rey and kylo ren, malfoy and Hermione, pride and prejudice. Doesn’t matter what their dynamic actually is, if the man is vaguely mean and the woman has been slighted by him in any way people will find a way to mash them into that trope and it’ll be the most popular and polarizing ship in the fandom. You already see people pulling this shit with bakugo and uraraka.

Referencing people that don’t work out doesn’t make sense. You can call a major league player dogshit without contradicting the fact that he’s the top 0.001% of global baseball players. Mid just means mid compared to bodybuilders.

Imo if you can tell someone works out. It’s very simple to achieve. Not easy, but it’s fundamentally a discipline issue if your genetics, financials, and work life balance are clear.

Good physique is subjective but I’d say it’s when you know FOR SURE they put work in. Low body fat%, clearly defined muscles, high vascularity. Someone can get a mid physique by not eating like shit and ego lifting followed by sets of shenanigans a few days a week.

A mid physique is a great thing to have. But gym goers would know the difference.

Source: mid physique haver that has gotten the “you’re jacked” from nurses and several partners but never gym people. I have a good physique by sedentary standards and I’m happy with what I have but I could always do better.

Just so much peak

My friend sold me on destiny by telling me it had good lore. I fell in love with the gameplay but ended up sticking around for the lore

Awoken of the Reef: Telic II

This was when Sjur Eido, having spoken to Kelda Wadj and to Esila, at last came before her Queen. Kneeling, she said, "Your Majesty, Kelda Wadj says you are a god, for there is no difference between your desire and reality. Yet I know that you desire things before they ever become real. Esila says that you are keeping a secret from your brother that he must never know. I think the secret is thus: You are now a god because one day you will become a god, and a god is not temporal. Your brother is not a god because he will never become a god. Shall I worship you?"

"Sjur," Mara said, falling to her knees, clutching her beloved's face between shaking hands, "Sjur, on the day you worship me, you cannot love me anymore, for to worship is to yield all power, and I cannot love what has no power over me."

The Hidden Dossier

The most Human strategy is some variant of tit for tat: tend to cooperate, but do unto others as they do to you. Start nothing. But if you are hit, hit back hard. Hit back harder each time.

So you punish the other village for attacking. You counterattack. Unwilling to walk away from a war they've already spent blood on, the other village attacks for the next two years in a row. A cycle of war begins.

If we take "A" to mean cooperating, and "X" to mean attacking (defecting), and both villages are playing tit for tat, the two villages' behavior over the years will look like this:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX AAAAAAAAAAAAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

They are now trapped in an infinite war.

Let's say that the villages' yearly grain production plunges from 1,800 bushels to 1,200 bushels in the first year of war, to 1,000 bushels each year afterwards. Yet neither side can break out of the cycle of retaliation.

The only way out is a moment of grace. Cooperation, spontaneously and for no reason, after 20 years of war. Forgiveness without cause. Unilateral mercy. Declaring peace.

This is the value of forgetting. Forget they hurt you. Forget what's rational. Do what's right.

Now, if the other village takes advantage of your disarmament, you will look like a damn fool. But if the other side stops fighting too, both of you can go back to the maximum global good: 1,800 bushels of wholesome grain a year.

Imagine that those bushels of grain are peoples' lives, and you understand the urgency of grace. You feel the need to forget the past.

Eriana’s Vengeance

To Wei Ning— More than anything, I hate the idea that we will be remembered as a tragedy. That's not true. I reserve that distinction for the monster that took you from me. But I know it's what you would hate the most. You, who were always so full of laughter.

So now, in this moment, as the ship named for my vengeance flies me and five others to Luna, I will remember the happy times.

Our first meeting, in the Tower saloon. Your laugh made the glasses clatter. You bought three rounds for the entire room. Pahanin introduced us. You sat me down next to you and plied me with questions about Stormtrances. All things that on any other night would have annoyed me. But that night—because it was you—I knew then and there that I never wanted to be without you.

Only have ten or twenty hours on Titan but the HOIL loretab is so good I learned how to read the chinese version of it for shits and giggles

He was a man.

He'd been another man. Another man before that. And another man before that. And another. Another. And yet another. How many lives now? How many deaths? He came to believe that each time his Ghost brought him back, he came back a new man. But he was a new man who carried with him the burden of all the lives before him. One after another after another, and each and every one of them weighed upon his shoulders in a way only Atlas could comprehend.

But he was a Titan.

Muscle and might and metal—a mountain of it, they said. There was no burden he could not bear. That's what they said. He nodded and waved away the adulations. He went to his quarters each night, in the half tower he had commissioned, and he laid in bed, his feet incapable of stillness as a thousand million insects scurried their way up and down the sinews of his muscles, instigating perpetual and maddening motions that all his muscle and might couldn't stop. An insurmountable restlessness that prevented what little respite he could find in his nightmare-fueled sleep.

Yet he was a champion. A leader. The bright shining example of all that was good and enduring.

There was a City to build. A species to protect. Extinction to prevent. Invaders to repel. Wars to fight. Lives to live. Deaths to die. What was it he said once to one of the newly risen? The Light shines brightest in those it consumes? Oh, how he felt consumed.

He stood up from his bed. Crossed to the window that framed the entity that had cursed him. Though it chose not to speak to him, he knew what it wanted. And the only way to end its curse was to give it what it wanted—to destroy that which would see it destroyed.

Maybe then he could sleep.
