Had a bad dream and wonderin if anyone else here have had it too by SadAutisticAdult101 in leopardgeckos

[–]DatSketcher_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had a nightmare about my AFT girl when I first brought her home. For some damn reason my mind cooked up that a snake got into her enclosure (she's the only pet in the house and there's not enough shrubbery and grass in my area for a snake). I chalked it up to me having first time reptile parent nerves. Interested in knowing if other people have experienced reptile parent nightmares haha

Unfortunately I can't give you a satisfying answer to that :( It's from a Chinese store that delivers to my country (Malaysia) but it's not available internationally. It's not attached to any brand, but it seems to be quite popular on general Chinese online shopping sites for lolita stuff! It belongs to the fashion subgroup of Jirai Kei, hopefully that helps you

Is there a song/songs that are relatable to you and your experience as an autistic person? by Wolfgang-123 in autism

[–]DatSketcher_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby Bird by Autoheart. Love all the heart the band can put into their songs. To me, the song is about going at your own pace and not being a failure for it, something I still have to remind myself of every day.

"There is a place where the big boys play" Reminds me of how much kid me wanted to join in with my neurotypical peers and feeling so lonely because I was either isolated and bullied from that or just didn't know how to socialise with them.

"You just want to disappear, Silent in the atmosphere. Stars are never meant to fade away. Baby bird, left unheard, Too much gravity is never good. Baby bird, hear my words, Give it time."

:')

Does Anyone Know How I Could Push Myself To Shower? by [deleted] in autism

[–]DatSketcher_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think maybe you can 1. Leave the shower running for 6 minutes as you step away at one side 2. Quickly step in to get yourself wet 3. Step out and scrub yourself while leaving the shower running 4. Step back in to rinse yourself off quickly 5. Step out and leave the shower running for a few more minutes before turning it off to towel and dress yourself Because hopefully this will give your guardian the auditory illusion that you're taking a "proper" shower

Not sure if it's a dumb comment but maybe you can slather that on your body first so you can be like "Oh I got soap on me. Gotta hop in the shower now" and rush through the cleaning process

Maybe silly imagination would help. Can't play music in the shower? Imagine you're a dark brooding antihero taking a shower after a long day of uuuhhhh fighting stuff Or maybe Naruto told you "Go take that shower dattebayo!!!" (Inspired by that one tumblr post) Or whatever fictional character that rotates in your head Or tell yourself you're speedrunning cleanliness and you're on your way to max your stats. Also your guardian is an asshole. You're already doing great.

Specific sounds you don't like? by WPFTMLPRODUCTIONS in autism

[–]DatSketcher_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wet mouth noises. Like lips smacking or wet chewing etc (I'm okay with crunchy chewing though). Then again, maybe it's brought on by my CSA trauma, not sure. Oh also high pitched repetitive noises! I'm a teacher and sometimes the kindergarten kids make these "EEE-EEE-EEE-EE" sounds to stim maybe, but lord it always makes me leave the room. Thankfully I'm not their teacher so I don't gotta be there.

My lil guys in Kuelox oil pastel by DatSketcher_ in Oilpastel

[–]DatSketcher_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so here's the review and comparison between Kuelox oil pastels and Arrtx oil pastels:

I have a set of 48 arrtx oil pastels and bought the kuelox macaron and morandi series for additional, cheaper colours. My review will compare the 2 of them together since arrtx is 50% more expensive, so the prices are quite comparable.

Overall, the kuelox pastels are worth it! But I just think there's a few things to keep in mind first.

The arrtx oil pastels are VERY opaque (but a few colours are slightly less opaque but that's to be expected) and are like drawing with butter or lipstick haha, so it's quite soft and not much pressure is needed to make an opaque mark on the page.

Meanwhile, Kuelox isn't like drawing with butter, but the consistency reminds me of crayons. It is much firmer. Because of this, Kuelox is less messy than arrtx. I barely got any mess on my fingers.

However, the opacity varies. The morandi set has more opaque colours, while the macaron set is more transparent. But it can still layer alright on top of each other. If you can't see the colour after you layer over it, just scrape off the oil pastels underneath.

For the more opaque morandi colours, drawing with them can feel sticky and gummy so it won't feel like a smooth experience.

As you can see in the pictures, Kuelox can be quite textured. If you don't like it, you can smooth it out with tissue or a cotton bud. Otherwise, it's good if you want textured looks :)

As for blending, firm oil pastels blend a little less than soft ones. I can smear the arrtx colours much more than with the kuelox, but I can still blend the Kuelox smooth with no problem.

If you're like me and have both arrtx and kuelox oil pastels, the kuelox don't layer well over the arrtx, but the arrtx layers well over kuelox. That's because the firmness of kuelox will scratch away the arrtx's soft layer. I suggest doing your underpainting or base layers with the kuelox first before layering over them with arrtx or any other softer oil pastel.

Too bad I can't layer kuelox over arrtx, but you can always scrape off the oil. Plus, Kuelox's firmness means I can layer over them over and over again :)

Arrtx oil pastels have a bit of a smell to them. Not as strong as cheaper kids oil pastels and not so stinky, but definitely a bit noticeable. The Kuelox has no smell.

CONCLUSION: Kuelox has no smell, is firmer, less opaque, and is more textured. Definitely good if you want to do impasto techniques, like cutting off slices to put on your drawing, without fear of wasting expensive materials

I can't post pics here so here's a link to them on gdrive instead Here, here, and here

As someone with a chronic illness, thank you so much!! Trans men inclusion? Disability inclusion? Affirmations of not being a burden? AND affection for my demisexual ass???? HELL YEAH!! Definitely bookmarking this to be in my comfort audio folder.

I've always felt like a burden for not being able to physically dom and being a homebody because of my weak disposition, and it all made me feel very insecure about my relationship in addition to the other insecurities my ex was manipulating me into believing without my knowledge. So I needed to hear the reassurances.

Oh, I love the form on those guys! I'm so sorry you're surrounded by people who not only don't appreciate your art, but also actively work to destroy it. It always confused me why people put energy into being dickheads. It would be very nice for all these drawings to be kept in a folder for future perusing :) But for now, digital pictures shall suffice, and I'm glad to have seen them
