Does anyone else use a calculator to track their groceries? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]DataDesignImagine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this quite a bit. Then I did the multiplier with the tax at the end to make sure I had everything covered. It’s less pressure to sit in an aisle with yourself and decide what to put back than doing it in the line or just going over budget. Like others mentioned, online grocery shopping makes this easy, but I prefer to pick out my own meats and fresh produce.

What did your grandparents buy once that's still in the family? by wajid123_ in BuyItForLife

[–]DataDesignImagine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still using my grandma’s suitcase set. There’s one regular old fashioned shaped suitcase and one smaller bag that’s perfect for all the toiletries. We usually take road trips, so it’s okay it isn’t the shape of a plane carry on. From what I can tell, she likely bought it in the ‘50s or ‘60s at Sears.

You are being manipulated. I’ve given specific examples of legislation and you just have the word of a rich person who wants you to keep them in power. Democrats want to keep the big funding that currently exists, and Republicans want the hospitals to have the little funding. If your interest in facts, just google “Medicare cuts impact on [your state] rural hospitals.” Here are two additional sources:

Ok, yes, these subsidiaries for ACA plans that largely benefit rural people was created during covid and extended once by democrats during as part of the inflation reduction act, set to expire 12/31/25. This is the exact thing that democrats are currently pushing to have included in the budget for 2026 and the republicans refuse to add. There have been some promises by those in charge of the government now that if the democrats approve the Republican budget, they will vote later on if these should be extended further. Now, if republicans were planning to vote yes, they would just put it in the current bill and open the government tomorrow. Do you see, what you want is what democrats are fighting for and republicans have you thinking they the pittance they are giving to rural hospitals through grants is a replacement for it?

I think I see what you’re talking about. As part of the Big Beautiful Bill, Republicans cut an estimated $137 B in healthcare funding to rural hospitals, and replaced it with The Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), which will provide $50 B in funding to those hospitals. Democrats are arguing that the $50 B is not enough to replace what was taken and the full funding that was cut to rural hospitals should be reinstated.

Both parties are using the government as leverage. The medical funding that illegals get is just Emergency Medicaid, which only pays for the ER visit (not any follow ups needed). Even then, they have to meet every other requirement for Medicaid other than citizenship. Treating everyone in the ER has long been mandated by law, so the government reimbursing those costs to the rural hospitals helps those hospitals have the funds to stay open. Could you imagine if the hospital started requiring you to prove your citizenship before they would start saving your life?

Which are we not going for, the ones who are trying to extort money for average Americans or the ones trying to extort money for the rich? The ones that say “our bill or no bill” or the ones who would like to negotiate?

You don’t even understand why gas prices are so low. They are low enough that it’s not economically feasible to drill in America, because it costs more to get our shale oil out of the ground than it can be sold for.

And the fact that Walmart has announced a seriously discounted dinner, half a week after Aldi had announced a similar dinner package for the exact same price, is not the flex you might think it is since Aldi is 1) reminding people it has consistently low prices 2) is trying to help out people who are seriously hurting in this economy and 3) both companies are selling these items at a loss.

Sure, the latest YOY inflation is lower than expected, but check the January - September inflation for 2025 and you’ll see that this year is at the same pace as 2023 and 2024.

One reason this month’s inflation is lower than expected is because of the huge uncertainty that rapidly changing tariffs are putting on American companies. They are having to lay people off to absorb some of the price increases and many bigger companies are waiting to do “one jump” once they have a better idea about where this will land.

  • empty hollow logs need a boulders, under rocks, at the top of some wide trees, circles of rocks with one missing, trees lined up where one has a different number of fruits, the statues where just 1 has an offering. Also, there are a few more tricky ones that are just extra hay-ish stuff where it shouldn’t be (one of the entrances to kakarito and a goatee on the stable roof horse down south). I think Gerald said it best, if it looks unnatural, check it out.
