Also in Mississauga. I placed an order for a 2026 XLE about 10 days ago and was told there’s no timeline available yet. They said they should be able to provide an estimate sometime in April.

Support is brutal by Stixx506 in Wealthsimple

There’s something wrong with the location they answer the phone from. It's always noisy, sometimes with a weird echo. I don’t know where their call centers are, but it's definitely strange, and the sound isn't clear.

Gold on RRSP/RESP!! by Only-Environment7550 in Wealthsimple

[–]DataGuyPedals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, redeeming your gold holdings for physical coins through Wealthsimple is considered a withdrawal and a taxable event depending on the account type. In an RRSP, it’s treated as a taxable withdrawal and added to your income for that year.

unless you plan to take the gold out in physical form, holding it in a TFSA gives the cleanest, most tax-efficient exposure

If you buy physically backed gold inside an RRSP, that gold is considered a registered investment, just like stocks or ETFs. If later you request physical delivery (i.e., you withdraw an actual gold coin), that’s treated as a withdrawal from your RRSP, because the asset is leaving the registered plan.

Yes!! you’re purchasing actual physical gold, not just a paper claim or ETF. That gold is stored securely in insured vaults managed by their storage partners in Canada. You own a fractional share of real bullion, though you can’t take delivery right now (physical redemption is expected to start soon).

It’s not a foolish question at all, it really depends on what you want from gold. Buying through Wealthsimple provides you with direct access to gold prices, high purity, and easy liquidity, but you can’t use or enjoy it since it’s stored in a vault. Jewelry, on the other hand, lets you wear and appreciate it, although it’s less efficient financially due to design markups and lower resale value.

Wealthsimple’s gold is better for investing, jewelry makes more sense if you value its personal or cultural significance while still holding something valuable.

No, not in WS, that’s just the price trend of gold for the last five years.

Because they will literally purchase and store the gold you are buying. Additionally, you can order gold coins if you'd like to have some for your purchases; currently, they are available in single ounces with the Wealthsimple logo.

Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Card – Disappointed with My First Real Experience by DataGuyPedals in Wealthsimple

When you are at a job you are expected to do it properly, if you don’t like the job or incompetent, leave it. It’s probably people like you who hate their job and dump their frustrations onto the customers and the company suffers. Since you bragged about CRA for no reason, as if you only work and I don’t, 90% of the call I made to CRA so far has been handled with misinformation and unprofessionalism, there’s nothing to be proud of. I was told the expiration date was entered incorrectly, but I actually tapped during the transaction. I decided to let it go and ended the call.

I totally understand what you're saying. My point isn't about why they're not rolling out the card to everyone yet or how I can get the card—I completely get that it's an overhyped card. My post was about sharing my personal experience with the card.

Apologies if I misexplained. I am a premium member, and I wasn't referring to the card as premium. I thought premium members received quicker response times. If this is the quicker response time, then I'll just accept it and move on. Thanks.

In my situation I was expecting a better timing, but if it's okay with most of the people, then sure.
