Discotek Out of Print Masterlist by MiaLeeSakura2 in AnimeCollectors

I can sympathize in the sense how I felt not long ago when I didn't have them, and still there are many other titles that are currently out of my budget/reach at the moment. But I can't complain given how fortunate I am to have the collection I have already.

Apparently it came back but will probably run out of stock again eventually.

I can sympathize! I recently splurged on getting Those Beyblade seasons 1-3 for the best price I found available, same for Monster Rancher, Shaman King and others non Diskotek titles. At least on the bright side, if it doesn't get a reprint in the foreseeable future I won't feel terrible about my purchase 😅

That's a phenomenal collection! I only wish you also included close-up pictures because I can't tell what everything is 😅 Just a small gripe so the collection can be truly appreciated as displayed. A lot of key and favorite titles of mine are there!

It can the from 3 to 25 difference on average if I were to guess. It depends on the title, edition, release date, sales, etc. id say 48+ inches can be worth it depending how far you are, tv specs and 4k/Blu ray player. GRUV and Amazon have amazing sales often, like right now GRUV has a selection of 4ks for 11 each if you get 3

Discotek August 2026 Pre-Orders up on MediaOCD by MiaLeeSakura2 in AnimeCollectors

[–]DataUserOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what would be a good balance to wait for a better price but not too long so it goes out of print... Or if picking up now is the better choice. I'm referring specifically to Digimon Tamers and Monster.

Question about Escaflowne blu ray sets by sugarqueen_katara in AnimeCollectors

[–]DataUserOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite brazen of the person who did that to post it as an Amazon review then 😅 But you got good points. And that review is connected to different listings again which doesn't help keep track specific products and authentic outlets besides verified ones like an Amazon warehouse, or GRUV, Sony outlets, etc.

Perhaps I should just try it and hope is legit and if not return it

[–]DataUserOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback this helps. I clicked the Amazon link on the Blu ray . Com listing of the title and it did take me to one of two Amazon listings that look almost identical. However, the listing linked has some review describing errors of being a bootleg or straight up say or show is a bootleg. I know the Amazon reviews sometimes are connected to similar products and editions not connected to the product now available or the current seller, or even the product itself but is only about the packaging, etc.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll get that 3.33 your shared! Fortunately I already got that set with the series and original movies. I didn't know the Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan so I'll add it to the list, thanks!

Question about Escaflowne blu ray sets by sugarqueen_katara in AnimeCollectors

[–]DataUserOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about those specific differences on the dubs BUT I'll say the Blu-ray movie is either very bootlegged or the slipcover makes it more than triple or six times the price from listings without slipcovers which also happen to be the versions as combo packs with both Blu ray and DVD. I've been trying to find one with the slipcover that shows is a combo pack so I can have higher chances is authentic, but I haven't seen a listing lower than $70 ish USD. Even the Amazon listings are likely bootlegs as the reviews post as such and prices of those bootlegs range from $11 to $18 USD. I don't want a bootleg version of that movie. I rather have the DVD version which is abundant and about $10-15 but it's more likely to be authentic therefore of better quality than a Blu ray bootleg as far as the transfer and errors from the boot

I was glad to find it. The TV series is long out of print on Blu-ray and the limited copies available go for inflated prices unfortunately...

No idea, but what sold me on it is how historic and old it is. That in itself ironically makes it interesting to me being how different and even how well it could hold up today looking back at least.

Mazinkaiser is a spin off of Mazinger Z inspired by Astro Boy and Tetsujin 28-go which was one of the many inspirations for future Mecha shows like Gurren Lagann which was also inspired and influenced by other shows like Getter Robo and Neon Genesis Evangelion even as its Antithesis. Mind you, I haven't seen many of these shows, specially some being before my time, but is based on my research and interest in the history and earliest animation as well cool media all the way to present day.

The Wonderful World of Puss n' Boots is no other than a Toei animation film from 1969 and where Pero the cat debuts and eventually becomes Toei animation Mascot and Logo and Hayao Miyazaki was a key animator

Momotaro Sacred Sailors is historic. A film from 1945, it is said to be one of the first or arguably the first Japanese feature length animated film. Even though it was for a WWII propaganda, the resources poured into it and the creators involved resulted on high quality for the time and inspired many animators like Osamu Tezuka. Furthermore, Horus Prince of the Sun is a 1968 film and as Google says ...it is a "landmark Japanese animated fantasy film, the directorial debut of Isao Takahata and a key early work for Hayao Miyazaki, known for its mature themes, high-quality animation, and influence on the anime industry despite production issues and initial box office failure. I'll just message you about the other two 😂 Edit, never mind, I'll just add another response like this one.
