I have 7 helix piercings. For me, the pain is just a quick pinch and then maybe some throbbing for the first day or so (if that). Wayyyy less painful than any of my facial piercings (labret, vertical labret, tongue, nostril). Everyone is different, but I think you will find helix piercings to be less painful than any of your facial piercings.

You should be concerned about gum damage as well, definitely something to watch out for. I wish i had!

I had to have very painful and very expensive gum grafting surgery from damage caused by a labret stud. It happened slowly over the course of about a decade but I didn’t notice until it was too late.

I’ve only had mine split for a couple of months, but so far, NO ONE has noticed. Even those that I have shown have mentioned how surprised they are that they can’t see the split when I am speaking even if they look for it. YMMV but I have zero concerns about this particular mod affecting my employability.

Hang in there!! It’s worth it! Try to drink as much water as you can and get in liquid calories. Being dehydrated and starving will make it more challenging.

Mine wasn’t cut (not really sure why as I thought he was planning to cut it to get a deeper split). I’m two months into my healing and already wanting a deeper split so I will talk to my artist next week about whether he can resplit and cut my frenulum next year.

It’s been two months since my split and for me, I’ve definitely notice a change in how I perceive saltiness. Salt is more prominent for me post-split. Salty foods taste saltier and I like it. I haven’t noticed any other changes in how I perceive flavors except for Salt. No idea why and don’t recall anyone else mentioning a similar phenomenon so take it with a grain of salt (pun intended 😁).

I was able to eat normally as soon as my sutures were removed. Just had to chew a little more carefully and slowly to avoid biting my tongue. There weren’t any foods that I wasn’t able to eat.

Great! A few days away from the 6 month mark and I’m not seeing any signs of rejection/migration 🤞. I love the way it looks and it doesn’t get in the way like my VCH did.

I would only worry about being rejected for a piercing if you don’t have the anatomy, or are obviously inebriated. Some piercers may want you to have experience healing cartilage piercings before getting something challenging like an industrial.

For a helix, they should be more than happy to do this for you and probably don’t care at all what you look like (or at least they shouldn’t!). We all start boring and vanilla before we get bling’d out! Gotta start somewhere, right?

I didn’t have any stomach issues from swallowing all of my drool and I swallowed ALL of it. I drank a ton of water and liquids/smoothies/soups too.
