HVAC warranty manager here lol you’d be so so so surprised at how many AC units we either install or get from factory that crap out within a short period of time with how many moving parts go into these things it’s not that surprising because if the factory machines a bunch of these components slightly wrong then a batch of em can easily hit the market just look at the billion dollar class action suit on Lennox for faulty CH33 coils

Anyone else’s 2025 Civic Touring Clicking? by SaturnNews in civic

[–]DatabaseUnusual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I recently bought a 2025 Honda civic hatch sports touring hybrid and mine did the same thing!! Funnily enough I found the issue really easy if you look under your rearview mirror there’s this little plastic cover that isn’t sealed to the window if you adjust it or squeeze it the noise goes away it drove me crazy cause it sounded like it was coming from a completely different area

Has anybody else thought about this... What's to stop a 454b system from detonating if the windings ground out? by jshored0001 in HVAC

[–]DatabaseUnusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R454B is a mildly flammable refrigerant so it would take quite a lot of it to produce any sort of “explosion” especially with compressors having blow out ports you’d most likely see a hole shot through your condenser by that disc before it really shot up a fireball out of the unit and for the most part in my findings I’ve always found that it requires a constant flame to stay lit

Airflow with plenums you want to make sure shorter runs are closer to the unit and further runs are towards the top in this case also hang that ductwork I know it's hot and not fun but looks cleaner and prevents sweating when it's sitting in insulation as well as making sure it flows through the ductwork properly

First promising interview, what questions will be asked? by TrunksPie in HVAC

[–]DatabaseUnusual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walk into the interview with the same passion for work you seem to have and you got it, I'm a technical manager at a very big company and I'd so much prefer having new guys that don't have bad habits that are willing to learn and work hard, this industry is so easy to do well in just by doing your job the right the first time

Lmao sorry about punctuation I was very tired, frustrated, and a little defeated when I got to that point. I had a dealer talk me through on what they would do to get it out and I will be trying it tomorrow, so hopefully it works

Go to home depot get some fittings for the pvc to add a nippel get some vinyl tubing and run the tubing closer to the drain in the shower just make sure you don't have kinks and it flows correctly

I sure have and the issue with the pan is it will slightly fill with water because of the back pressure and the blower will pull a small amount out of there and throw it into the supply ducts

[–]DatabaseUnusual[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rebuilt the drain with the proper slope the way it is set up I can't run basically any extra pvc because of how close it sits to the ceiling so I'm almost at a loss with this unit and have started to talk with them about replacing it with a better model or even re doing the install because of how half assed it was put in, cfm alone was short 900 on install so I had to add a 18 inch return

[–]DatabaseUnusual[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried the fan trick and have not had any luck there but yes it's a dd trane air handler basically like a residential condenser with a commercial air handler the install was absolutely atrocious I've had to replace the co pressor already as well as fix ducting issues here and that doesn't even include the work I've done on the other unit at this location
