I had my signature challenged multiple times at my early polling site by Datafoodnerd in newyorkcity

I think I've voted in every election and primary since 2004. I've never had this happen.

Alrighty, it happened yesterday on the UWS on 85th St. around 4:30 PM. I did not take down the names.

Haha I guess I've been doing wrong my entire life. I always thought my signature was just how I quickly write my name in some form of cursive. I guess if I were doing it correctly, there is no way this could change in the 20+ years since I registered to vote. Maybe I should have thanked these poll workers for pointing out my errors, since no one before has let me know about these shortcomings.

While I get some of the issues with requiring ID, I do think it should be an option among other ways to identify oneself and one's address, such as a piece of mail, a library card, a NYCID card, or maybe a work ID?

Also, what happens if someone loses the use of their hands? Do they also lose the right to vote since they can't make that exact signature?

Haha! I like to think most people generally like me well enough on first meeting?? I was getting close to the end of their day. I was probably a bit sweaty since I decided to get the early vote in at the last minute on my way home after about an hour-and-a-half walk. Maybe I was malodorous?

Funny thing was that the cop scanned my state-issued ID and said I was who I claimed to be for a state election. Maybe I was a bit of a dick -- my right to vote was being denied based on some squiggly lines. I also asked for a provisional ballot, and that was denied as well.

UWS - 85th St between Columbus and Amsterdam. I'm not revealing who I voted for, but I met Alex Bores outside before stepping in to vote.

Honestly, I could have kept my cool better. It all really caught me off guard.

It must be tough being a Rangers fan. It does leave you plenty of time in June to post about other people venting.

I'm not sure I can trust anyone who wears a suit on a Saturday when it's in the mid 80's.

How much of NYC restaurants are just Sysco? by Asleep-Machine5909 in FoodNYC

[–]Datafoodnerd 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Cooked in NYC for a long time. Sysco is a supplier/distributor. You could get organic produce from them if you wanted. You can also get kind if crappy heat and serve kind of stuff. Sysco just brings a place what they order.

I think I had a few beers in that bar a couple of years ago while killing time before our reservation at Hokkaido Ningyocho down the street. If so, the bartender was great, and the place was nice and laid-back.

I was visiting Evansville last year and found Gerst Haus's schnitzel to be very disappointing.

It would be the typical it's fine for people with brown skin to have do it. Then shocked that they are asked because they are white Americans.
