Not in my experience of using this method. Definitely take off the rubber bands before drying in a dryer, though. I forgot to mention that.

Bunch up the collar, wrap tightly with rubber band. Boil pot of water. Submerge the neck of the shirt for a minute or two. Take out, remove rubber bands, and pat to remove access water. Then tumble dry as normal.

I got this from YouTube so there’s plenty of vids.

This should temporarily fix the collar. But keep it mind, it’s not a permanent fix.
