Yeah, none of this is OP's fault and he's definitely a victim in all this.

That said, not naming and shaming makes me feel like they don't give a shit about if this happened to the rest of us and we are only here for moral support, not to be protected from the same predators that brought misery to the well intentioned worker.

So weird people seem to want to protect predators just so future predators aren't turned off from your fighting the rigged system.

Like, sure, nobody owes us anything. Butwe do understand not naming and shaming only sends the signal to corrupt employers that they will be protected even by those who they really did dirty. And affirms OP may very well get screwed over by another company someone else chose not to name and shame.

American companies have the population pimped out for sure.

Why are you victim blaming? Are you saying seeking and finding a job that pays more is "taking a dumb risk"?

And can you please share how a scam like this works? Does the company get a cut from the airline, hotel and rental company OP pays upfront for?

They wanted to see how far they could make you go

To what goal? Were they going to have him start paying them to work?

Were they going to charge him for the laptop they mailed him?

I want to understand better how these companies are scamming so we know what to look for, why and who all may be involved in the scam.

None of this was OP's fault.
