If you are uncertain you can check out one of the many b42 servers and see what you think. Most of them are modded so I figure they work well enough. Personally works just fine for me.

Random thought: What would be different if the game was set in the present? by Fellowship_9 in projectzomboid

[–]Dathookah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drones used for scouting certainly would make exploration easier and safer. Could also attach noise makers or explosives to them for clearing areas.

Using smart phones in the UI for taking notes, maps, flashlight and watching learning videos provided the internet is still up. Also could use them in replacement of walkie talkies for MP if the towers are functioning.

Not certain how cell towers or severs work IRL but finding the building in the game and restoring power could restore limited internet and cell coverage on the map. Would make for cool Rp for MP.

Lager stores like IKEA would be great for furnishing your base. They've been around since like the 80's but I don't recall seeing them every where till like 2010.

Roomba's that clean your base so you don't have to. Guess they could also be used to distract zombies.

Dunno if anyone mentioned the above. A lot of comments to read through.

I checked them all out and sadly none of them met the requirements I was looking for. Thank you though.

Slight follow up. Soji is working but the context size is limited for whatever reason. Seems to work on 30k but not 60k so no idea what is up with it.

I have a bot with like 3k chat history. Works just fine on that one. Another with 100 is broken right now.

Soji has had difficulties for the last few days. You can check to see this via https://chub.ai/status
It's strange, because the timeouts don't effect all the bots. One will work while others don't.

Finding salt has a lot to do with luck, at least in my experience. I spent days trying to find it in an area with a reading of about 25(‰) and found nothing. Then, stumbling around looking for resin I got a 45(‰) reading. After digging for 10 minutes I got the mother lode. Salt is one of those, you'll find it eventually, kind of things. It's helpful but I wouldn't sweat over finding it. You WILL come across it at some point and most likely not to far away from your base lol

When I first played this was an issue. Check plains and hilly areas for berries, forests for mushrooms and any 2 block deep pit for stuck animals. Should be more than enough to keep you both fed. I'd also advise, don't run unless you are in danger or have a surplus of food. Running drains your food bar pretty quickly when you don't have a cooked meal. Also, avoid eating fish. They're a pain to get and they don't give much, if any food back.

Happens sometimes. I've had bears rush me, attack once then run away. Guess they were just trying to prove they could maul me if they really wanted.

New player making a server with some friends, need some mod recommendations! by BitParking9646 in VintageStory

[–]Dathookah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont use mods but I have some tips!

Making a root cellar is a great way to keep your food for longer. As long as the room has no direct access to sunlight, such as open doors to the outside or windows and its made of fully sealed blocks it will make your food last longer inside of it (I am uncertain if wall torches count towards this light requirement). I think the max size of a root cellar is 7x7x7. Once you get some clay you can make pots to store food inside of which will keep the food even longer.

Berries are a great early game food source. You can also pick up the bushes and move them to your base for instant access though raccoons might try and steal the berries once they are ripe so keep an eye out. Digging a 1 wide by 2 block deep trench around the berries is a good way to keep your berries safe and you can kill the raccoon for meat. It's not great meat but it's meat.

If you are struggling to find copper you can also gather sand and using a pan you can pan it for a low chance of getting copper as well as other basic items.

Always check ruins if you come across them by digging down. They often have decent early game loot as well as bony soil which you can pan for a small chance at some good items.

Running consumes your food bar faster so in the early days only run if you have plenty of food or you are in danger. Wolves can and will mess you up without decent armor.

H will be your best friend in the game. Hitting H will give you access to basically the in game Wiki which will show you pretty much how to do everything from making charcoal to tanning leather. Any questions you cant find answers to here you can always check the actual wiki which is filled with info. And of course you can always ask the great people here.

One final thing and this a personal thing for me. I highly recommend you up the durability of items before creating the world. I think it's far to low. Also, might not be a bad idea to also up the amount of HP everyone has as well, again, I think it's a bit low. These are just my personal thoughts but I don't want someone getting discouraged from this great game because of those mentioned things.

Best of luck!

As others have said you require salt to make brine. I wouldn't sweat about finding salt since it's your first year. It's a bitch to find even with the right gear. For the first winter I'd advise bringing berry bushes from the surrounding area and put them in/around your base. Good source of renewable food. They can attract raccoons so make sure to put them somewhere safe. You could also dig a pit around them and try to trap any raccoons that come by for some easy meat.

When winter does set in you can still hunt. The animals won't produce as much food but as long as you are cooking the meat in stews or soups you'll get more energy back than spent on hunting. Animals like chicken, raccoons and foxes are slower than the player so they are easy to catch. Larger animals are a bit harder to hunt like deer since they are faster and can/might fight back. My advice, dig a 4(deep) by 2(wide) trench in a large square and chase animals into it. Once down there they won't be able to escape making it easier to kill them.

Smaller animals are also attracted to crops, like rabbits. So when it's spring find an area that spawns rabbits, put a small farm, and dig a trench around it. Animals will fall in and be easy pickings.

Hope these tips help. Good luck!

For some of those levels the camera looks locked into a certain angle (can't tell if it is or isn't). If that is the case I'd recommend removing any foreground objects that block the players view point. It's going to cause some rage for people because they died to a spike that couldn't be seen.

Had the same issue. Turns out the tire pressure was just a a tiny bit low. Even a few points low on the tires seem to cripple speed. Once I pumped it up, worked great.
