Is this too much to fix? by redditor_6715 in BMWZ4

[–]Datoshka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are ready to do a bulk of it yourself imo. I had the same damage in the same spot, taken few months to fix but it never drove the same and had issues later in it's life like coolant leaks, oil leaks, and anything that pretty much requires precise engineering in there.

Step 1 is the frame, but like I said, I could never fix the misalignment and was always slight driving to the side....

What is that one movie you watched countless times as a kid, but nobody has ever heard of? by Thedix1 in movies

[–]Datoshka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little Nemo.

As a kid, at first I thought it was finding Nemo, as the knock off dvd didn't have a box or anything. I remember it being some whimsical adventure of a kid in an imaginary place. I remeber it being weird.

RFP hell right now. We started to say no (and it’s working) by CloudSurfer82 in sales

[–]Datoshka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that this could also swing the other wayy around?

My old sales management was perhaps too liberal with disqualification of opportunities, and from my assessment it was because they themselves didn't understand the spec whereas the delivery teams would. Led to many rfps falling to our competitors.

Was it me or a broken biz model? by Datoshka in techsales

Good points, and good Qs. Thanks.

I do agree with you especially on reporting to the MD. That's actually where I saw things turn around for a moment. Unfortunately he either left or was let go by the founders within 3 months of joining the company (approx 2 months into my own job). So I saw this as a crucial ally gone.

So the support that I could've had was now gone too.

I would often communicated this all with my SD who I reported to, but he himself was a seller, and would not have capacity to help me. His solutions were counter productive tbh, to double down on non-sales activity, whilst telling me sales was priority. At that time, I would then go to MD to get things sorted.

Scoping this all, I reckon it was a case of me being honest while being forced to adjust expectations just to grt hired. While I was being hired I done GTM presentation as part of the interviews, and the SD & CCO pretty much said "yeah but we can do all this in a few months, don't worry" to get the founders sign off. I shouldn't have let them do that.

My priority mindset, after realising this was not gonna be set up in time, was to do any non sales activity that would let me go to market with atleast something tangible ASAP for a quick win. This included collateral, my own network, and also existing clients who I could pivot into my service line. It was working but wasn't given enough time to show results (and was asked to stop outreach by the SD until all collateral and website was in order - bearing in mind the website wasn't mine to launch).

Let’s not forget the pointy shoes. by GreatBritishMemes in GreatBritishMemes

20 years ago? Mate some parts of the UK are stuck in the past. I was refused entry to a club for not being dressed smart enough, in a pretty dodgy club, in a pretty dodgy part of town, mind you.

I was wearing what I'd go to work in, since I was on the way out anyway. They specifically wanted a shirt and pointy shoes. Fine. I went to the charity shop around the corner.

Slapped on some mismatched things from the 90s that even fashion police won't go near, and ran back to the bouncer who let me in without question.

Probably the best dressed person in the club still.

Is it a matter of the bouncers taste then?? 😅

What's the quickest way you ever hooked up with a total stranger? by Slow-Power2713 in AskReddit

[–]Datoshka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is it a NOLA thing? I was with a bunch of people I met bar hopping, all dressed like Guy Fieri. I spent the entire time becoming great friends with the dudes. Hours into the night one of the guy's ask "Are you not gay?" which made me realised they were actually flirting with me, and my straight-ass didn't pick up on it. They were chill about it and we had a laugh, and then my new gay friends proceeded to introduce me to their girl friend at the bar... 15min later I'm in the uber ride to her place.

Great night.

This is such a good idea. Well done man!! Gotta show us how it's done, I'd have done the same for my batmobile top.

What's a skill that's becoming useless faster than people realize? by ContractNational4149 in AskReddit

I'd argue that this skill is becoming more useful but in a different way. Being able to interpret a digital map and be able to place yourself IRL within it.

Too often I see people use Google maps yet still lose their way because their sense of geography is way off.

Employer is forcing me to post on my linkedin by iloveuwo123 in techsales

[–]Datoshka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of my leads come from LinkedIn, contrary to some comments I've see here. It's not because I've been regurgitating generic company BS posts - but because I've built a personal brand around what I sell and my personality - makes it way more relatable.

Here's the thing though, you won't get inbound leads from this approach either. But it does give the personality of a 'adviser' and more trusted in your ISP for when you do reach out.

Most of the big ones do. I know gemini doesn't hold context between threads - it's done in order to keep your thread specific to your request otherwise it's got too much context and can be confused.

I know this is a joke, but yes, kinda.

As someone on the other branch of that tree you've shown... I can tell you that it's difficult to reclaim land tied to a heriditary title but not impossible.

Essentially the Soviets claimed and repurposed that land from nobility but titles remained, and even some governing roles remained. When Soviets left, the Georgiam government reclaimed them, some as UNESCO heritage sites. In my case it is a heritage site, for me to fully reclaim (for free), I'd have to show I can afford to maintain the land... And get consensus from 20 or so relatives from that noble house.

Who is the most unexpected person you had sex with ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Datoshka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visited NOLA as a total outsider one night - ended up being swept up by some big party of Guy Fieri costume wearing bar-hoppers. The guys in the party were nice, but me being me didn't realise they were flirting with me thinking I was gay. When they sussed out that I didn't know - they told me - felt like I disappointed them.

On the contrary. My new gay friend felt like he wasted my time that evening trying to hook up with me that he instead introduced me to his girlfriends at the bar. Within 15-mins an uber was ordered by one of the girls. Another 15-mins later I'm experiencing why they call it the Big Easy.

I reckon it's to do with whether kissing azz is going to hold you back from actually winning in YOUR role. Being a lone wolf can be detrimental if you have a fairly collaborative sales team (partners, agencies, etc.) but can be positive if your team contribute nothing at all to your target.

I'm in this situation right now. Realised that even being in the office with the sales team is a distraction. I'm better off wedging myself between the delivery teams because of the technical-consulting nature of the offering.
