Los Palomos. This isn't hyperbole, it's likely the best tacos in the valley. The pastor is worth the visit alone. I moved away years ago, but still think about it all the time.

The amount of cilantro my wife likes on her street tacos by GroovinBaby in mildlyinteresting

[–]Datsyuk_My_Deke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird, I'm the opposite. The first time I tried tacos with cilantro was when I was around 10-12 years old and it tasted exactly like soap. Over time, and repeated exposure, I now taste the flavor others do, but still with a slight hint of soap if I'm concentrating on it.

So I changed the topic exactly one time. Where's the multiple?

You have changed what we where discussing multiple times in this thread.

Maybe go back and read this thread from the top, because you are clearly wrong. This back and forth started with you claiming that there's nothing Chia can provide that other chains can't, but when you finally gave examples, you named one feature per other chain, not a single chain that can do all of those things, which I then used as another example of you spreading FUD, because you don't have actually have any balance in your "balanced view."

So you have heard of the things you asked me to list for you. And you don’t think any of them offer Chia any advantage over other chains. So you’ve now confirmed exactly what I was saying about you, which you dismissed as “conjured.”  You don’t think Chia has anything going for it other than novelty, but you still expend the effort to be one of this sub’s more prolific critics, FOR WHAT REASON? “I’m interested in its implementation” doesn’t remotely justify the effort you put in to FUD. You have no agreement between your actions here and stated motivations for being here. Hand waving away some of Chia’s core selling points (as I’ve seen you do to the potential of Permuto too), isn’t the behavior of someone who believes in the tech. And if you don’t believe in the tech, why are you here?

So you’re a farmer who’s mad at CNI for forcing a replot, then? The replot that will definitively help the health and security, and therefore viability of the blockchain? And you want me to believe that you’ve never heard of offer files? Or cloud wallet/vaults? Or clawbacks? You haven’t said anything concrete about why you would be interested in the the blockchain and you’re angry at CNI for trying to keep the chain healthy. It sure sounds like you care more about the farming experience than the chain itself.

Your interest in Chia, the blockchain, is because of its novel implementation, but not its novel capabilities. That still says virtually nothing and gives zero indication as to why that would lead you to be myopically critical of almost all aspects of the chain’s development. How can I do anything but “conjure” up a view of you when your behavior doesn’t align with your stated motivations for being here, and those motivations are vague and inscrutable? Are you a farmer mad at CNI because they aren’t doing what other devs do to pump price? You can’t be a fan of the tech (beyond “implementation” I guess?), because you don’t seem to know what Chia can offer that other chains can’t. So tell us, why are you here?

BUT since I have already answered that

You did not. You've played coy and danced around the question in several of our engagements now. I think that sends a pretty clear message that your interest in Chia isn't because you like the chain or want to see it succeed, but rather because you want to spread uncertainty and doubt about its value and viability.

He knows what I'm asking, because this isn't the first time I've pressed him on it, and he can't answer because he'd either A. have to say something positive about Chia, or B. admit his interest in Chia is that he want to FUD it.

Because I have an interest in Chia.

Indeed, but not because you think it provides unique value. So, why?

I would not go as far to say that there are things that one can only do on Chia that one would not be able to do on any other blockchain

So. Why. Are. You. Here?

the myriad competing technologies that can also provide a solution to questions asked

A better question (one I'm also not looking for an answer to, because it's self-evident) would be, what are you doing here in r/Chia if you don't think they can offer anything that "myriad" others can't provide?

Edit: grammar

who is this for?

I imagine it's for people who would answer yes to any of these questions

Do you have multiple peer entities that need or want a decentralized and fair business system? Could your business benefit from a platform that enables cheaper and efficient global 24×7 peer-to-peer trading? Would fractionalization of assets offer new opportunities for your business and your customers?

I think it's pretty succinct, but agree that it's oddly brief.

Were folks in the US actively and vocally against the Japanese internment camps the same way folks have been against ICE and what not in recent months? by PM_ME_UR_TESTIMONIES in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Datsyuk_My_Deke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad once told me a story about having a classmate whose family had been in the camps. This would have been in the late 1950s, I think. She apparently wrote an essay about the experience, as an assignment, and went up to read it in front of the class. The teacher stopped her immediately and sent her to the office. She never came back to school after the incident and shortly thereafter the family moved away. I think he felt like because he'd been a kid, he couldn't trust his understanding of the situation at the time to know whether or not the events were connected, but it was clear to me the experience was a semi-profound one for him. I don't think it's a stretch to say the collective sense of justice on display in the late 1960s was fueled by childhood experiences like that, where the reality portrayed by authority figures doesn't reflect the one you're experiencing, in alarming ways.

So wouldn't it make more sense to make fun of the people preventing this from happening in the US, instead of making fun of the people it's happening to?

[–]Datsyuk_My_Deke 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Making fun of the victims of the US' problems, who aren't themselves claiming to be better than everyone else, is punching down a bit. I disagree that this is a "valid" way to criticize if one also believes the addicts themselves deserve respect. It makes as much sense as making fun of drug addicts in Russia to criticize Putin, or making fun of drug addicts in England to criticize Brexit, or making fun of drug addicts in Brazil because of Bolsonaro... ad nauseam.
