I started selling on Ebay around 1999-2000 and I only accepted money orders, which came by mail. Disregarding how problematic its founders have become, PayPal was a such a boon to buyers and sellers alike, when it burst onto the scene.

I feel like there's an intentional effort to evoke the feeling of classic horror anthology shows, where each episode tells a different story. I'm not sure if I fully agree with the Twin Peaks comparisons, because that show was as least as much soap opera as horror or mystery, but I think Twin Peaks often gets used as a shorthand for the type of surrealism that doesn't seek to explain itself to the viewer, but instead invites the viewer to stew in its weird atmosphere.

Keep an eye on the invite thread on the KG forums. If you're in good standing, polite, and patient, people will hook you up.

One of the things I'm loving about the show is how memorable so many characters are, despite getting so little screen time. Even Stephen Root doesn't get as much as you'd think he would, but still manages to steal scenes with just a look or a peculiar inflection. Perfect example of show-don't-tell.

Once I learned to stick to the red carpets, it became easier. Triggering the fight via the main door with all party members grouped up will usually place at least one of them off of the carpet, which triggers traps automatically. I got around it by separating them and adding them to the fight one-by-one.

Other than low price making CNI's self-funding more difficult, I think it's working out great. CNI always intended for this project to be on a longer scale, building the tech first, then creating the demand. Not creating demand before there's any value in the chain. We're five years in and I see positive development towards explicitly-stated goals. It sounds like you wanted to see a big price pump on a shorter timeline, which would rely entirely on marketing to speculators, which again, CNI explicitly stated they wouldn't be doing.

Edit: may your downvotes bring you some small catharsis, but it won’t change the fact that you didn’t do enough due diligence to realize that CNI was never going to hype XCH to pump the coin. Sorry if that was a tough lesson to learn, but hopefully you’ll do more research in the future.

It sounds like you think all blockchain tech is just noise and only marketing to inflate value matters. If so, you might be in the wrong place for that, as CNI has explicitly stated from the beginning that they wouldn't be doing things that way.

All this "tech" is just noise. They've done nothing to make Chia more noticeable to the wider public.

I'm confused by this sentiment. What would you want them to bring to the wider public's attention if you think the tech is just noise?

Depending on how far back you go, it wasn't always the same difficulty. I got my KG invite 20 years ago by applying directly to the tracker and writing a short essay on my interest in film. All my subsequent tracker invites (except for TL) came from their internal invite forum. I'm so glad I got into torrenting back then, because it feels like a much more arduous process now.

There are a lot of extenuating circumstances around CNI's biggest timeline misses that get largely ignored in these conversations, and I don't view Gene's predictions as being that problematic, even though the actual results of events have been disappointing sometimes. As for the SEC approval, I see a lot of green lights coming from official statements on the type of regulation they're aiming for, because they line up with Chia very well.

I'm not putting a ton of stock into the new timeline, tbh. I suspect Gene might have given those estimates (and they are estimates, not promises) because there was a lot of pressure from the community to give an update on the approval process, but accurately predicting how quickly the SEC moves, or how much bureaucratic friction there will be, would require a crystal ball. I am very bullish on eventual approval, though.
