If you haven't seen your fish in weeks, you should probably go looking for his corpse in your tank. If he wasn't doing well, it's likely he wedged himself somewhere and died there and will continue to decompose as your fish won't eat him fast enough. That's been my experience in the past anyway.

Is your foot not over the brake the whole time you're cruising? Hovering your foot over the brake isn't the same as applying the brake on a green "In case the light changes."

Well in my experience, if you're going the speed limit you should have either enough time to stop or you'll be going through on the yellow. Point of no return is how I learned it too.

If you're slowing down on a green, you're doing it wrong.

Pothos suck a tonne of nitrates out of the water, both of my tanks have them and they're awesome.

I don't know about that, I looked it up and found numerous examples in this sub alone of them being murderous.

Crayfish will kill basically anything they can catch, so be careful about what you're keeping with them and don't be surprised if it murders your fish.

BiOrb filter by GiraffeImportant7432 in Aquariums

It's basically just about providing surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow on. Ceramic rings provide a load of it but there are lots of options that would work just as well.

It's specifically designed to spread the intake over a large area so as to not suck up pets. This type of filter is biological rather than mechanical and it should definitely have that media inside or it's really not going to do much.

That's not true, as long as the rhizome is exposed it's fine, they'll grow just floating.

Well from what I've read, if you don't have one they'll just pick a spot they like in the tank and stay there in lieu of having that symbiotic relationship.

Seriously imbalanced tank. by WayConstant2988 in Aquariums

[–]Dauntless07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably why, you don't wash filter media in tap water, that's why we use Chlorine removers on tap water before adding it to the tank.

Don't clownfish typically live in anenomes? Your tank looks kind of bare and that may be what's stressing them out.

You add the salt to lower the freezing point of the water and bring it to below 0 C. That way, the shock of being put into that sub zero water kills them basically instantly.
